What kind of scores/GPA/ECs would make UC Santa Cruz a safety?

SATs above 630 in each category, unwtd GPA of 3.7.

safeties have to be absolutely affordable as well.

You would want to be at the 75th percentile for GPA and SAT/ACT scores and what @jkeil911 ^ said about affordability.

Are you a California resident? If so what is your approximate rank in class?

http://ugrad.soe.ucsc.edu/admissions implies that engineering majors may be more selective than the school overall.

Due to the reading of essays and holistic evaluation, it is hard to see UCSC as a 100% sure thing, although for some high stat ranges, it is probably pretty close to that.

I am a California resident. I’m not sure of my class rank but my UC GPA is 4.39. I have not taken the SAT/PSAT/ACT yet but I will be taking them soon. (I’m a junior)

Class rank is not used directly by UCs. A related concept, Eligibility in Local Context (basically whether your UC-recalculated GPA is in the historic top 9% of your high school’s UC-recalculated GPAs) can give you UC Merced as a safety, or be a favorable factor in the holistic review.

Ok, thanks for the information :)
