UCSC Econ transferable math

I'm a bit confused here. I'm an Econ major who passed Business Calculus (Math C140) at Coastline Community College, but for an odd reason that class doesn't articulate to any math class at UCSC. However, if you take the SAME class at Orange Coast College (Math A140) it DOES articulate. How does this make sense if both schools are in the same district and both classes are of the same content?

Maybe this will help out. Here's the articulation agreement with COASTLINE:

And here's the one with ORANGE COAST:

Thanks in advance!

Dude I’m taking that also for UCSC but at BC!

Cool. Does your Business Calculus course articulate to UCSC’s Econ 11A?

I looked up Coastline -> UCSC on Assist and it says Coastline doesn’t even have equivalent Micro and Macroeconomics courses, which is strange. I would go talk to your counselor and see what’s up.

Indeed it is strange! I took my Micro and Macro courses at West LA College and those econ courses DO transfer. Go figure.

So Laringa what other schools are you applying to my dog!?

Haha. All of them! :)

Dawg like where.

I got a response from UCSC Admissions:

“Admissions forwarded your question to me for a response. Articulation decisions are made on an individual college basis since colleges in a district do not usually have common course outlines and don’t necessarily share the same text. Therefore, articulation at OCC would not necessarily match articulation at Coastline. The economics department is looking for a two course sequence in applied calculus that covers topics through multivariable calculus or a three term sequence in calculus to insure that both single and multivariable calculus are covered. While it is true that we used to allow finite math and business calculus to satisfy that requirement that is no longer acceptable. I suspect that the articulation at OCC needs revision and that MATH C140 will be removed from that agreement.”

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

-sigh- I guess if I do decide to head to UCSC I’ll have to take an acceptable Calculus course there.

So business calculus is not acceptable? You would have to take Calc 1 and Calc 2?
