Psych major here. Haven’t heard back yet and I’m wondering if any psych majors have been accepted.
I would type out all my stats but I have a completed everything you need to transfer. I will have my AA in psych after this semester and have a 4.0 overall gpa and still haven’t heard anything back. Just wondering what everyone thinks about this wait.
I applied ucla as well. But I think it’s a long shot since I didn’t take the physics or philosophy. Il have my aa and have a bunch of volunteer work too.
I visited the campus today and I fell in love :x now I just have to figure out how I’m going to pay for it.
They haven’t sent out aid information yet but I doubt I’ll get much if any.
@futureeechick
Mind sending me details about the campus? Like the overall vibe you felt.
The campus is probably the most beautiful UC campus of all of them, IMO. So so pretty.
@boxandwhiskers Agreed. UCSC was my first choice in high school, primarily because of the campus.
Me too. I remember in high school everyone talked about UCSC as being really desireable. My high school boyfriend went there and moved into the dorms and I would spend weeks on campus with him. Lots of walking in the redwoods, hiking, hanging out at the beach, and Santa Cruz has some reaaaaaaally good mexican food. I love Santa Cruz. It’s quirky and unique and kind of small-townish but SUPER beautiful. It’s close enough to San Jose and the south bay so you don’t feel totally detached from the rest of the bay area, but you also feel like you’re somewhere else completely.
Love Santa Cruz. A really good school. A cool town.
@boxandwhiskers extremely well put.
Is anybody attending spring spotlight this coming monday? I’ll be there, I’m so excited! I know it’s not the transfer-specific spotlight day, but they were offering a tour of the facilities for my major that day and it seemed a bit more interesting to me.
@cb1996 I definitely wish I could have gone to one of the transfer days. I felt out of place and not as informed especially considering my tour guide was a freshman. I got to tour the college of engineering and that was definitely the highlight of my day so I’m glad you’ll get to explore your major’s facilities.
@futureeechick lol I felt the exact same way when I was touring SDSU on wednesday. I was the only transfer in a group of about 80 prospective students and it sucked. I’ll make sure to ask a lot of transfer-related questions to get more info out of UCSC Sounds like you had a good time regardless though! The Facilities aspect is definitely an important one to consider, since you will spending a lot of time there specifically in the next few years.
@cb1996 did you sign up for COMET? I hope that works out for me and I can get some more questions answered. I definitely had a good time and am really glad I took the time to visit the campus. It helped not only to see the city/campus but also feel what the commute would be like if I wanted to go home for a weekend/holiday/etc.
Can anyone give me the exact prerequisites? I was SURE that my math class satisfied the requirement, but they said I don’t even have a math class.
What math class is it and did you take it for your major or just to satisfy the requirement. I would check assist either check your major pre reqs and see if it shows up there or do a department comparison and look at all the transferable math courses.
Edit: I just realized you’re transferring from another UC. Have you contacted admissions at all?
@futureeechick I haven’t yet. It seems like a really good resource though, so I think I’ll sign up soon. Just SIRed today! so yeah, definitely soon. But the commute can be bad if you’re coming from the bay area, and highway 7 isn’t a very fun drive.
@cb1996 I’m coming from Santa Barbara so there wasn’t any traffic it was just a looooong drive.
