@mmeow458 Hi. No actually i double checked assist.org and math majors don’t need first physics series unlike at UCLA and some of the other schools which I never finished. So I guess for SC I finished all my major reqs with an avg of like 3.8 gpa for my major gpa and a 2.7 overall.
@wecandothis the schools all have their own time periods and let people know throughout the entire window, so UCSC from March 17th to April 30th. I heard from UCR within the first hour of them starting to release decisions, and since that happened on March first, I haven’t heard a peep from any of the 4 other schools I applied to that are already releasing decisons (not even counting UC Davis because they haven’t started yet).
Has anyone received a financial aid package thats detailed other than “financial aid budget”. Like does it go into detail about how much you will be getting in grants and state funding?
@BlackPlasma nope still waiting on it

I literally cried when I saw my acceptance. UCSC is my dream school, and I’ve literally been denied twice in a row by them. This was my third year applying, third time lurking the “tread,” and first time I got to say ACCEPTED.
Good luck to all those appealing, I’ve been there before and I hope that you guys make it in. Shouts out to everyone that got in, I’ll be seeing you guys this fall!
Hey guys, I have a question that I’m a little embarrassed to ask. Do we get financial aid for this incoming first semester that we start at UCSC?
I sent in an application for financial assistance for the orientation fee but I received an email saying there was no FAFSA on file for me…
Now I’m starting to freak out a little, are we paying for the first semester out of pocket or was I supposed to fill out a FAFSA for UCSC last year as well as this year and I missed the memo?
Again, I feel stupid asking this like I should know this…but I’m legitimately confused and worried.
Call financial aid, they’re really nice. The FAFSA deadline was March 2nd but I think there’s sometimes a later deadline.
Major: Economics
Transferable GPA: 3.9
Pre-reqs: Final pre-reqs are In Progress this term
IGETC: Done by Spring 2016
TAG: No
I’m 20, this is my third year of community college. Didn’t take a break from school. I’m considered a sophomore but I have 90 semester units (~80 UC-transferable), have been full-time every semester.
I’ve been working consistently since starting community college ~24 hours/week and haven’t had time to be involved in any on-campus activities.
Unfortunately, for financial reasons, I’ve decided to stay local. Unless a UC can give me any financial aid, I plan on going to SJSU.
Finally Accepted! (About time)

Is UCSC a good school? It’s so easy to get in and that always worried me for trying to apply to med schools later
I went to UCSC 25 years ago as a transfer, and my daughter is admitted as a freshman this fall. UCSC is a terrific school on all fronts. Outstanding faculty, beautiful campus, full support services, solid science and research facility. I have known many folks that go pre-med and have a great experience. The only thing that has changed such that I am concerned is the presence of the fraternities and sororities. But that is a concern on many campuses.I was an environmental science major. The science community and resources are top notch. Second most influential research university? Look at the things they work on. Look at the bios of the professors. The best thing about UCSC from a learning perspective is that it exists to teach undergrads, so you get a far better experience than say Berkeley, where I went and taught as a grad student. You cant go wrong at UCSC.
UCSC is on the quarter system not semester system. If you completes a FAFSA and listed UCSC you will get a financial aid offer. The priority deadline is March 2nd, but you can still get qualified for federal loans. They’ve certainly already given out work study offers and maybe all pell grants, so get your FAFSA in by the deadline for next year.
Son still waiting on UCSC- all other decisions are in but this one- I don’t get it. Psychology major- accepted at UCSB and UCD (TAG), waitlist at UCSD and not accepted at UCLA. But nothing from UCSC. 8-|
Im still waiting to hear from UCI, UCSB, and UCSC. Of course I heard from UC davis on the first day they start releasing decisions (waitlist). At least there’s only a week left to keep wondering
hang in there! That is really frustrating but you’re right…one more week. We wouldn’t care that much but he really Likes UCSC. Going to be an interesting week 8-}
I appealed my decision within the two week deadline, but my professor sent me a letter of recommendation today. I wonder if I can send another appeal including that letter even though it has been 3 weeks after my denial.
Thought I’ll help the future transfers
