UCSC Fall 2017 Transfer Thread

@astrophilia it is transferable for sure(on assist) i meant for irvine i dont see it appear on the list. For all other UC’s that same c++ “transfers” and “articulates”.
Sorry for the confusion

Major: Astrophysics
GPA: 3.59

Good luck to everyone else still waiting.

I was accepted into UCSC, but I dropped a course this semester, and I have to report to the school. Will that affect my admission? I am scared that they will cancel my admission.

@kyhg1024 i think it depends if the class you dropped was a major prereq or not

@phil067 can you explain more on that? my major is chemistry and i dropped organic chemistry but it wasn’t one of the transfer requirement (but i was strongly recommended)

@kyhg1024 Each UC has different major prereqs on assist.org that they recommend you complete prior to you transferring. The less you complete, the more likely they are to deny you - among other factors (ex.low gpa)
if its not a major pre req, its unlikely that they will rescind your acceptance since they already offered you admission and want you to attend.
But, i would contact admissions to clarify and let them know. Also you should report course change asap. They would know more than me about this.

@phil067 But when I checked assist.org, it was different from the UCSC website. On the school website, it was told I only need to General Chemistry and other math classes, but it was strongly recommended to take Organic Chem and Physics, so does it mean that OChem isn’t one of the major prep?

@kyhg1024 Yes, i think that it doesn’t mean that it is one of the major prep, but it is likely that you would have to take those classes once you attend. They usually strongly recommend certain courses so that you are more likely to graduate on time. But again, this is just me speculating on what i know from what iv’e read and what other people have gone through.
I think its likely that they won’t rescind your application. Again, they accepted you and want you attend. But, i would call and report changes now just to ease your mind.

@IndianCSguy So sorry about the rejection. Good luck on the other schools - hope you get into your favorite.
I’m CS, too, and haven’t heard back from anyone yet.

I’m also CS and haven’t heard anything back yet. Not gonna lie, I check every night before bed lol.

I just got accepted for CS

Accepted:CS!

Congrats guys! It seems maybe they’re doing it by major.

I’m still waiting for my decisions for UCSD and UCB… Can’t stand the waiting for either of those schools.

I’m getting soo impatient :frowning: Congratulations, @loyalfan49 and @cantcode

No,#550 said he got accepted by chemistry major, I am chemistry major too but I still do not hear anything.
