Did anyone actually get accepted since everyone got rejected or waitlisted?
@lihjtvcie my son will be going to COSMOS UCD.
I got accepted! I am a sophomore right now. I was honestly really surprised because I thought my essay wasn’t good enough and that I wasn’t clear on my goals. Guess I was wrong.
@Honeymilk: congratulations. You were obviously a good match for the project they chose you. Which area of interest did they select you and was it your 1st or 2nd or 3rd choice?
I got chosen for my 1st choice which was MCD.
For anyone who is worried about getting off the waitlist, you should be happy to hear that quite a bit of students do get off the waitlist since people who get into SIP often times have other options as well and some will forfeit their spot for other programs. There’s still hope!
Does anyone know what “REM” means? Under the project descriptions for each week it says wither ON, OFF or REM
@GoBears2023 thanks for the information! do you know if you’re only waitlisted for your first choice or for multiple subject areas?
I don’t know actually. Maybe someone here will know the answer! I applied once and got in, so I don’t exactly understand the waitlist process.
@savethelemurs
REM stands for remote. So basically you will continue to work on your projects but your mentor won’t be there physically to oversee. Instead, they’ll be monitoring you through like video chat or something.
@Honeymilk which MCD project did you get?
I got in for my first choice category Computational media and I’m super glad I did!
@tofudeer Were you on the waiting list this year?
@forevfaithful I was not on the waiting list. I was last year, however I never got off it and they never notified me that I was not accepted/had no space for me.
@tofudeer which research areas did u apply to last year?
@sdough 1. computer science, 2. comp media, 3. physics
How easy is it to switch projects after acceptance?
SIP and launch X, which is a better choice?
hi @aswiml ! i had a quick q so i got into SIP for anthropology so would you say attending the program is worth it even though it is not exactly a hard core science project?
@JennyZZ probably launchX because it is at MIT
