still doesn’t explain why people with 3.8 and 3.9 with all or most of the pre-req done getting denied with tag.

High GPA I understand, but whats with requiring 90 quarter units? I don’t think most students will have that much AT the time they are applying tag.

Just wanna post it here for u guys. I think u guys should do a petition.
http://admissions.ucsc.edu/apply/transfer-students/bsoe-tag12-final2.pdf

u just need 30 transferable units when u submit ur tag.
As far as i know, CS major is highly impacted.

That’s what I thought, I know I didn’t miss read. I will double check with UCSC rep and my counselor tomorrow but I am down for a petition if worst comes to worst.

Hey CS majors: who wants to #occupySantaCruz with me?
=)

lol sure. Btw i just talked to my friend who applied to ucsc and ucr as a comp sci major he said he got in with a 2.8 last year. He is reapplying to ucsc this year since he didn’t like ucr. so still looks hopeful guys!

Lets do it, I protest until they spray me with paper spray …

Too soon?

Does your friend have a lot of EC’s and volunteer service?

they dont care about EC, for UCR.

Well im guessing, CS in UCSC is one of those crazy major like Business in UC Irvine. I cant even TAG irvine as a Business major.

not really.

Well jnguyen471’s friend got in with a 2.8 GPA so how crazy can it be?

Btw, thanks for this discussion, its really getting my confidence up. :)

Jack Baskin’ SoE just pepper-sprayed all of its applicants lol

i just called Adrienne Harrell to talk about it and apparently it because i didn’t have enough foundation course prior to the tag? *** i mean it say on tag application that by spring 2012 you should be fine. I have all the comp sci classes already only missing the 3 math class and im ip for one.

^ dude. it was reasonable to reject u since u missed like 2 sequence of math…

well i meet the requirement by spring. Im taking calc 1 right now and calc2/discrete in the spring. so i have 5 of the 7 foundation courses already plus extra pre-req

cal 3 and linear algebra? All need to be done by spring, prereq that show in assist.org + igetc. If you want ur tag to get approved into a major that is impacted or selective.

cal1 for fall, spring cal 2. sorry but that is kind a late. Even when u apply, I think your chance is a little bit low, not competitive against someone who finished cal 3 and linear.

only math that ill be missing is linear algebra, and its only required for graduation and not part of the foundation course. so that shouldn’t really hinder me in terms of pre-req for compsci there.

Uci has the lightest pre-req for CGS tho 1 year of calc and 2 programming class, ill everything on that list, beside linear algebra.

Ferrari, if you don’t know about UCSC Jack Baskin foundation courses, which consist of 5 courses only, then please don’t chime in this thread. Makes me sick.

Jnguyen, yes, we are being robbed. I also planned discrete math for spring, is taking the equivalent of CMPS 12B this Fall, and have already taken Calc 1/2 and CMPS 12A.

This is not whining, but screw UCSC…

it kinda sucks, since their CGS program is pretty good, UCI is relatively new thus their prereq and class requirement overall is light. was hoping to go to ucsc though for change of pace plus the area is nice and quiet i would say for 2 years of school.
