Hi there, so far it looks like UCI, UCSD, and UCSB have released some of their admission decisions. I think it will be great if we can all make a summary together. I will start mine first as an example:

Major: Math/ Econ
GPA: 3.88
Applied to: UCI UCSD UCSB UCD UCB UCLA
So far Accepted by: UCI, UCSD, UCSB

Major: Business Information Management
GPA: 3.2(with a D in a major-pre req, being retaken this semester)
TAG: Yes(If I didn’t invalidate it with the D I got in Calc II that I’m retaking this semester…)
ECs: Few unique ones

Haven’t heard from UCI, or UCSD. Didn’t apply to UCSB.

i think a lot of you are confused with what TAG is. TAG is merely completing IGETC with a 3.0 or better. it only constitutes of two english courses, a math course (the lowest of which is like… algebra 2 or something; if not, then it’s precalculus or something equivalent). you don’t need to fulfill the major pre-reqs although it’s advised you do.

there is a list of IGETC courses you need to take to fulfill it. All in all, it’s only about ~12 classes, having 60 units prior to transfer, and completing the math and english requirements a year before transferring.

if you’re in any math higher than pre-calc, it doesn’t affect TAG at all.

Major: Econ with joint major in Management Science
GPA: 3.3 (TAG)
Applied to: SD
ECs: worked two jobs while taking 19 semester units, sports, internship in taiwan (this semester. i finished early because i had 20 units from APs)
So far Accepted by: sigh.

I think that should be amended to read “If you’re in any math higher than the lowest one you completed the IGETC Math requirement with, it doesn’t affect TAG at all.” I completed my math requirement with Calc I, many moons ago. I suspect many sci/eng/math majors have done the same thing.

Major: Earth Science/Geophysics
GPA: 3.7
TAG: Naturally.
Applied to: UCSD
So far Accepted by: your Mom.

Major: mostly Economics, Global Econ/Latin American Studies at UCSC, Development Studies at Berk
GPA: 3.0, no TAG or anything
Applied to: All UC’s
So far accepted by: UCR, UCSC, UCSB

Major: Political Science (International Relations)
GPA: 4.0
Applied to: UCI, UCSD, UCSB, UCD
Accepted to: UCI, UCSD
Going to: 1st-UCI, 2nd-UCSD…(basically got what I wanted)

No tag, great essays, overloaded schedule with 22+units in two semester + community college classes while in high school, working 25hrs a week, internship at a local law firm… (and i still got time to hang on the weekends :)]

To: UCI, UCSB,
Major: Econ; Alt: Biz-Econ
To: UCR
Major: Biz Admin; Alt: Econ?
GPA: 3.51(though I took calc2 AND honors calc1+2[no clue what I was thinking, I got a D in calc2 twice and took honors to redeem myself] and I don’t think they BOTH count so likely 3.6+)
TAG: nope
IGETC: Done
Prereqs: mostly done
ECs: work, church, weight lifting, running some minor things

Accepted: UCI, UCSB, UCR

also applied to CSULB as Business Finance and I was accepted.

@fenris- you definitely have to fill out an application/contract with your CCC counselor and have it approved by the campus(es) to be a TAG applicant. 3.0 + IGETC does not mean automatic acceptance by any UC campus (besides Merced) unless you have done so. you And your level of math doesn’t matter at all. You can’t satisfy your math requirement of IGETC by getting a D or an F in Calc. If you already passed a math class, than a D in Calc would still invalidate your agreement to maintain a 3.0/no fails, but wouldn’t be as bad. Likewise, if Calc is a prereq and you failed it you’re probably ****ed. In all 3 scenarios, you break your TAG agreement.

I think you’re confusing TAG with IGETC and a 3.0 GPA.

well personally, CantabilenApathy, if you had any shred of reading comprehension, you would have noticed my “assist.org” link. however, since you are incapable of reading and therefore, incapable of formulating a sound argument, here you go:

Moreoever, if you hadn’t seen the person’s link that was outlined “TAG_flyer” or something like that, you would have noticed that two schools didn’t require an additional form for TAG; one being UCSD.

Also, since you fail at outlining what is needed to complete TAG, here is an outline for the IGETC process – which is one of the two requirements needed to fulfill TAG:

So yes, your level of math does matter if you are not familiar with the courses listed underneath with my school’s link, the math courses listed under the math section include MATH A160 which i believe is trigonometry, meaning that the math requirement is actually very low. Most people will have this covered and yes, you do need a C or higher. You can satisfy the math requirement with a D or F in Calc provided you already passed Trigonometry or Pre-Calculus (A160, and A170, respectively) Calculus is A180.

[IGETC[/url]

And finally, because you seem intent on being ignorant, here is a .pdf of my school’s course list that fulfills the IGETC requirement for every subject matter:

Of the three, ive applied to UCSD (econ) and UCSB (econ), ive only heard back from SB (admitted)…what im really waiting for is April 30th tho!!!
