ucsc tag to engineering declinded o.O?

^ lol im sorry but the website im using is assist.org. It has been a good friend of mine for the last 2 years :)

Even on assist, linear/calc3/physical science and stuff, are graduation requirement, not foundation courses to be admitted to the major at UCSC :)

Anyway, I just guess that maybe they don’t want to admit many students this early this year. Are you guys who are rejected from TAG apply as normal applicant as well?

yup general admit. just really worried. while im excited i got into ucsc not really stoke to go if i wont be majoring in what i want to do.

I have finished cal1,2,3, and will be finishing 4th this quarter. Only thing I need are physics 2 and linear which I will finish by spring. I find it dumb that they have the requirement and total blow it off =/

well it must suck even more for you since you have alot of the requirement

I’m going to call the rep tomorrow and see whats going on, I’ll report once I get an answer

^ if u finish everything, but they rejected u…that’s truly insane… I don’t see any reasons for them to reject u. 100% on ur side bro. ucsc lmao… Biggest bloopers ever.

Because of the budget situation UCSC can probably accept a limited number applicants and every TAG they give out now is one less general admission applicant they can accept in March next year for fall 2012. TAG creates an asymmetrical relationship between the applicant and the university. If UCSC approves your TAG they are obligated to admit you next fall but you have no obligation to enroll there. They probably believe they will get far more qualified applicants than they can accept. In that case they have little incentive to guarantee an applicant admission in early November before they have even had an opportunity to look at all their applicants at the end of November.

By not issuing a significant number of TAGs now, UCSC will have all winter to evaluate all of the applicants and not be as limited in the number of highly qualified applicants they can accept in the spring by filling a large number of seats with TAG applicants now.

good luck to everyone this week who applied to baskin but got tag rejected xD. gogo general admit!

and a thread rises from the dead… 4 months later…

I got all excited and thought ucsc tag decisions were coming out early… then I looked at the dates lol. good luck though!

What is TAG?

TAG is Transfer Admissions Guarantee. If you’re at a California CC and meet the requirements, you’re able to TAG one school and definitely get a spot there.

Oh, and a quick follow up for anyone who sees this thread, I think most of us who posted here a year and a half ago (with the denied CS TAGs) did get in to UCSC as CS majors, they just like pretending to be selective. Baskins shot down my TAG and I’m now majoring in EECS at Berkeley, so don’t stress out if you find yourself in this whole denied TAG mess, it doesn’t mean much!
