UCSC vs. University of Colorado?!

I'm from FL and looking to go to school out west..

How would you say these schools compare? How are they similar/different?

Thanks Alot! I'm interested in things Philosophy, Psychology, and Writing as well as Astronomy and the like.

Help me out please!

Santa Cruz is really outdoorsie (is that a word?), Hippie type of students, however also great acdemics and beautiful campus.

isn’t Boulder pretty outdoorsy as well?

and it can’t be ALL hippies… right?

It probably isn’t… however I have known about 7 people who went there they are all the dredlocks type. It may not be all but I’d have to say its prominent. When students who went there spoke about it at my school what they found funny I found creepy. I only got a few people of course.

anyone else?

Can you help me too?

UCSC is outstanding in astronomy. Great surfing in Santa Cruz, great skiing in Colorado.

Total out of state cost for UC-Boulder is a little over $40k a year. Total for UCSC is just under $46k a year. U of California fees are expected to rise by over 30% in the coming year; I don’t know what kind of increase is expected for Colorado. Out of state aid for U of California is very very limited. Not sure if that’s the case for Colorado.
