@MidnightGolfer, I have Anujan Varma for CMPE 80N and he’s not listed on rate my professors =O

Voyager21! I was surprised at the amount of people left at the closing ceremony…Which one were you?? I was there, in the “butter butter butter” group. Haha

here is my situation, i got the enrollment code from my dept and i enrolled in the lecture yet i forgot to add the lab that comes with. So now the problem is that I can’t add the class because it keep saying that i need the prerequisite which is the class i enrolled. I don’t know why the system doesn’t recognize that i actually enrolled in the perquisite class. Anyways, does anyone know how i can solve the problem? I called my dept advisor but they are not answering, meanwhile i’m waiting their call back…plsss help…lol

Have you tried the “edit” enrollment option in your student center? I have no idea if that would allow you to do that, because I haven’t used it, but once you click edit, it gives you a drop down menu of courses you’re enrolled in that you can edit.

Also, if anyone wants to check out what books they’ll need for their courses, here’s a link to the Slugstore textbook page:

[The Bay Tree Bookstore - Textbooks](http://slugstore.ucsc.edu/ePOS?term=WT10&store=721&form=shared3/textbooks/text_browse.html&design=baytree#currentdept)

I did that and it didn’t give me the option to add the lab. I was thinking to drop the class and enroll back again along with the lab but i’m afraid the code wont be re-usable or will it? thanks for the help

The baytree bookstore website is a great website to browse your books, but you might want to buy elsewhere if you want to save some money. Also you might want to check ratemyproff or ask other students, cause many professors tell you to purchase books that you don’t even use. The only thing you’ll have to buy from the bookstore is if you have any course readers. Great website to check is : [SlugBooks - College Textbook Price Comparisons](http://www.slugbooks.com/)
They list the price from Amazon/Baytree/other sources

Great time (and money) saving resource, thanks MidnightGolfer! No more having to copy/paste ISBN #s into Google, haha.

Now, textbook lists don’t show up for some courses on either website (i.e. phil 9). Does that mean I need to wait until the first day of the course in order to find out what books I need and purchase them after that?

Yeah it’s always best to wait for the first day of the course cause they won’t list readers on the baytree bookstore or sometimes the professor hasn’t submitted their complete book list yet (which data is pulled through Slugbooks).

somebody post something new lol

i’ll start… what are you bringing with you that wasn’t on the “things to bring” list? i’m bringing a mount for my flatscreen… do you think the ra will kill me for pounding a few nails into the wall?

The RA personally won’t kill you (maybe if you share a wall with him/her), but you might receive a bill for damages. You can normally get away with tacks/staples, but a nail might be pushing it. Might be able to get away with it if you fill it up completely before you do your end of the year check out and try to go during a hectic time (the people who check you out just want it to be over with).

yeah i guess i’m just wondering if i’ll get a lecture, i don’t mind another bill (since in comparison to the room itself it’s nothing)

Yeah it really won’t be that expensive. I had about 100 tack marks in my dorm room last year and we filled about 70% of them and got away with it. My friend did nail in a shelf last year and I think he got billed around $60 (even though he filled it in). I wouldn’t even worry about being fined either, it’s just a pain if your RA somehow sees it and makes a fuss.

So, I know move in dates are the 3rd, right? Has anyone received email about move-in dates, room numbers, anything about move-in procedures?

what college are you in macrandle? i received an e-mail from the 9/10 housing coordinator with my room number and instructions.

-Students may move in starting Monday, January 4th at 10am
-When arriving at UCSC please come directly to the Residential Life and Housing Office; Here you will receive your key(s), unloading pass, and a move-in packet.
-In order to make room for others needing to park and unload, you will have less than 20 minutes to unload your belongings.

hey estrellatuya, when did you receive that email? And I’m at cowell, the last email I received about my housing was a confirmation about payment and when it is due; that was sent the 8th of December.

hey, when do we get our financial aid refunds? I mean it was dispersed today today and my account says that I no longer owe money, but when do we actually see the rest of the money?

You can see it on the account inquiry under the activity tab and if you have set up a direct deposit for the refund you should be able to get it by wednesday(tomorrow) because they said they run the direct deposit on mondays, wed, or fridays.

Just moved in to my apartment in Santa Cruz yesterday! :D

~macrandle

my housing info was sent on December 16th
