ucsd: Bike or Long Board?

I would like to add I don’t like the idea of someone new to skateboarding deciding to weave between crowds of people to get to class faster. If you’re a new skateboarder, stay as far away as possible from people. People are unpredictable, you can never tell which direction they’re going to walk. Actually, that goes for experienced skateboarders and bikers too.

And HotChocolate says it well, get a segway. xD

@iLoveSD: “so suck a big one” …?

Wow…really now? -___-

i didnt kno this forum would make for such an heated argument…

hotchocolate: if i was an employee of muir skate i wouldn’t register with my own name. in addition to muir skate, mile high and daddies board shop are great shops.

segways are for d**ches and chicks laugh at them. “new to skateboarding” is someone who’s been skating for a week. a skateboarder can learn all but the most complex slides within a month. it doesn’t take 5 years to master longboarding.

I bringing both; my fixie and longboard… the only problem here is should I bring my dervish or my bustin strike…

I’ve been riding longboards for awile now and let’s just say I figured UCSD is going to be awesome for longboarding during orientation. But that’s coming from my experienced view. Better get good guys, especially with downhill.

you don’t need to know how to slide to be able to manuever around ucsd safely. if you have a brain and know when to pick up your long board and walk in certain situations, you are fine. aka, don’t try to longboard down peterson, don’t longboard through library walk in the time between classes, and stay away from people if possible. if you follow those 3 rules and you have been longboarding for at least a week and know all the basics like carving/footbreaking/etc. you should be fine. the pedestrians complaining are the ones who are just *ed they dont have the ability to ride a bike or longboard, so they gotta walk and get *ed at the others who longboard/bike. hah.

the coleman slide is pretty useful. its something that one can master very quickly, so id recommend learning it. youre right about the haters. nerds like them suck so much. i bet they like rollerblades and segways.

Any bike shops near UCSD that sell cheap used bikes? Like low $200 range.
