UCSD Class of 2018 Official Decisions Thread

Just checking…are all these calls coming to URM students? Thanks and congratulations to you all!

I got a call from a Biochem student today who told me that I was admitted! I’m half black and half Filipino. Was admitted to Muir (first choice) and the Physiology and Neuroscience major (also my first choice!) :)

For those wondering about my stats, I had a 4.29 W GPA and 4.0 UW at the time of applying. Oh and a 1940 SAT score…

Got a call about an hour ago lol.

Aerospace Engineer
4.0 (both, at time of application)
2230 SAT

Edit: Filipino, apparently not included with “Asian” category so it might actually be from URM

I got a call maybe an hour ago from a current student. I’m Asian so most def not URM and I got into my 1st choice (Muir) with neuroscience/physiology major. I had like 4.3 W and 3.8 UW. The guy didn’t say they were calling URM’s, he said “select group” or something like that.

I got a call a few hours ago. I’m a white female so who knows why I was called early. Supposedly part of a “selected group of students” to be notified. Admitted in Muir with Cognitive Science major :)

Looks like it has something to do with choosing Muir (I choose that one as well). I got a call from a area code 832 number a few hours ago (they called twice) but my phone was silent. Wondering if I missed my early acceptance call. :(

Edit: I’m white as can be so I’m definitely not a URM.

When are decisions posted?

So stressed out, I have a 97% GPA, but 26 ACT, hopefully I will get in

Is it also possible that I get accepted if I didnt get the phone call?

@nutter398 I think decisions come out mid-March, maybe the 15th. I can’t imagine only those who get a phone call will be admitted – this must be a relatively small and special subset of admittees. No phone call for my son with a 3.92UW and 2300 SAT yet, so I am hoping that’s true! :)

UCSD Regents for my son!

Well I got in but here are my stats. They’re pretty low compared to other UCSD applicants but I have a good amount of extracurricular and did tons of volunteer work. I have a 3.8 UW GPA, 4.2 Weighted. Only took 3 AP classes in my whole high school career. Took AP Biology and AP Lang during my junior year. I passed AP Biology with an “A” for both semester but got a 3 on the exam :(. I got a 2 on my AP Lang exam as well ;___;. My SAT was 1780 (solid 600 for both Critical Reading and Math, 580 for Writing). I’m Asian so I was not expecting to get in especially since most Asians who apply have higher stats than me. I think what really sealed the deal was my personal statement, even though I wrote it the day before the UC applications were due LOL. So I never had anyone double check it for grammar mistakes (too lazy). Anyways, I wrote about struggling in school during my freshman year because the transition from middle school to high school was so hard for me. I highlighted my strong points: my perseverance and resilience to do as best as I can in school and in the end I not only achieved my goal but I also excelled in it :D. So basically, what got me accepted was my personal statement which I thought was really strong and the fact that I’m a first generation, inner city student :D.

Still waiting for UCLA and Irvine lol. Cross my fingersss :D

@bigdreams01: Lol I was surprised to get in as well, considering my dismal stats. Compared to yours, they’re the other way around for me: a low 3.6 GPA but a good 2210 SAT score. I’m Asian as well so that was also a factor in how I was surprised that I got in. I think what sealed the deal for me was, other than my SAT scores, my personal statements and how I highlighted how I had to help out with my family’s financial issues as well as how I had to deal with my ADHD issues especially in junior year and how I overcame that aspect of me.

Also, almost no one else in my school applied to UCSD (as far as I know) which may have made getting into UCSD easier for me. However, a LOT of people at my school applied to Cal & LA and almost all of them have better GPA’s than I do so I don’t have high hopes for those schools. Oh well, I’m perfectly satisfied with UCSD! :D

Admission results confirmed for the 15th!

@rgosula did they tell him he got regents during the phone call or was this a mailing? Congrats!!

@collegetime18

phone call, second one, a week later.

I am low income but I didn’t get the call. Does it mean I am rejected?:frowning:
I have 2 friends who are low-income like me get the calls.
In addition, my stat is low (3.8uc gpa, 26act)
And I applied to science.
It looks like I have no hope afterall

I got a call, and I’m definitely not a URM–Indian to be specific. But what a great way to kick off college month! Thought I’d start on a low note haha.

Would anyone mind chancing me really quick?
1900 SAT
3.92 UC GPA
10 AP/honors including senior year.
President of 3 clubs
office positions in 2 others
On the District Council
Lacrosse for 4 years
insane community service hours
I applied for neurobiology
Haven’t got the call… don’t know anyone except the people on here who have…

got innn
now just waiting for UCLA. so so nervous about that one.
