UCSD Class of 2020 Discussion

To everyone who hasn’t gotten a decision yet…

http://thequietplaceproject.com/thequietplace

This link will help you relax for a bit, keep in mind that you should not stress out!
Most likely colleges have entered decisions in their portals, but haven’t released them to the public.
I know it’s stressful, but it’s going to be OK.
Have faith in yourself, young ones.

@knguyen1297 I got into ERC, which has apparently the best dorms which really excited me. I’m sure you will have a good college experience nonetheless, but if you do accept UCSD, talk to a counselor there and say you really feel like Revelle isn’t the place for you… They’ll understand ;’)

@knguyen1297 Yeah, I got into Revelle because my friend, who got accepted in 2015, said it was a good college for science. I am scared too! Math is my worst subject by far and I need to take 3 Calc classes for GE!

@knguyen1297 Why are you scared? I hadn’t done much research either but I also put Revelle as my first choice.

I dont even feel like going to UCSD now. Least they could have done is inform us when the next batch would be out.

Can people post what time they heard their decision and how (e.g. email, portal, phone call)?

@c0ffe3 Revelle has a reputation for it’s being incredibly hard and boring. Still was my first choice. I’ll take the challenge haha… There are a few quarters literally of just bible analysis lmao

@c0ffe3 Revelle is known for its GE’s (hardest of all). Since it’s mostly STEM-oriented, many students there do not like the Humanity classes (which is part of the GE) (5 courses requirement,6-6-4-4-4 units). I’m myself a terrible writer and do not like analysis reading, that’s why I am scared. I also heard it’s the thing that drags students’ GPA down the most too. It is extremely difficult to switch colleges once you’re in also therefore I think I just have to go with the flow.

@selectyour I was raised in a Buddhist family, so I have never read and am not familiar with the Bible at all.

@creoennosotros I received my acceptance via portal at exactly 3.00 PM yesterday. I was pretty lucky that I got through because my friend, who checked it a few minutes later than me, couldn’t check it until 5.00 PM

OOS accepted to both Davis and SD.
@creoennosotros I received an email around 12:30 - 1 today for UCSD and the email basically gave away the acceptance (confirmed through portal later).

@knguyen1297 It’s more analysis than lecturing… It’s a humanities course

I sent them an email from the portal asking when decisions will be released like @lyannastark but they sent back this email that I’m pretty sure was auto generated because it looked like this:

Name,

Thank you for your email. UC San Diego is currently evaluating applications. Freshmen application decisions will be posted by March 30th and Transfer application decisions will be posted by April 30th. Please continue to check the MyApplication website for your application decision.

Sincerely,

@selectyour Either I guess I have to up my reading game (I hate reading and analyze)

They sent me an email at 11:59 AM today and told me to check the portal. From the portal it said I was accepted.

But I got into ERC which I heard was the hardest college. I honestly didn’t know what tf I was putting down at Nov 30. I guess I’m going to UCR

@CharmedKS1997 got the same exact message :frowning:

@unconfidentially my friend got into UCSD and wait listed at Davis

Although I was disappointed from getting rejected by UC Davis, I appreciate that they let me know about it without dragging it to the end of March

I’m In-State, and still haven’t received my decision :frowning: I applied Econ, got waitlisted at Davis as well. I got into UT Austin, which is very likely for me (so excited!) but SD/Davis destroyed my confidence for the UC’s/my UC app. I’m hoping they at least give out all decisions by Monday, but honestly with SD you just don’t know. I don’t get how you can get into a top 10 business program as OOS but not Davis/SD though… whats wrong with the UC’s??

Haha, I was following this thread for a week before I made an account just now to join the discussion. But did anybody else get accepted to both UCD and UCSD? I’m worried since I’m the only one out of my friends who got accepted to UCD, but everybody else got rejected, yet they have higher grades (yield protections?)
I’m worried that it might just mean that I’m not going to get into UCSD, which is a heart-breaker since UCSD is my first choice. I heard rumours that UC’s have a way of connecting with each other to see how a good applicant can be rejected at one campus and that action will affect how other UC’s view them. Is this true?

Best luck to us all! xx

@Velouria
Probably not because UC Davis is harder to get into than UCSD. At least according to the UC Davis thread.

@selectyour @knguyen1297 Ahh I see, thanks guys

And does anyone know if UCSD has ever announced decisions like how they did this year where some ppl’s portals haven’t been updated yet or is this the first time?
