UCSD Class of 2020 Discussion

many are saying that ucla is this friday and berkeley by the thursday after that, so the 24th.

@AyushSahni98 UC Berkeley should be coming out on March 24th. UCLA does not have a definitive date, but many are saying on the 18th.

Guys, Is the whole UC’s won’t offer financial aid to oos thing true? If it is, then bye guys I literally wasted hours here and i’m super mad. bye felicia. Mixed emotions RN i wanna cry

@meltingsoull you will be expected to pay a minimum of $24,708/year at UCSD, no matter what your EFC if you are international or OOS this year. However, in the coming years, the only aid available to OOSers may be Pell grants, Stafford loans, etc. If affordability is an issue that can’t be covered by Pell grant/loan/work study/outside funds/family money already, and if you foresee that being an issue in the future, choose somewhere else.

And any idea on when the next batch of decisions will come out for UCSD?

@AyushSahni98 Nobody is sure when, but all of us are hoping for tomorrow.

@AyushSahni98 unfortunately no :frowning: could be as early as tomorrow morning at 9 AM PST or as late as March 30 at 4 PM PST.

@gonewiththeair where’d you come up with March 30 4 PM?

Fingers crossed for tomorrow, 3 PM.

@ShipAlreadySank the admissions office closes at 4 PM Monday-Friday. March 30 is the last day decisions could be released according to their website, so 4 PM on that day is probably the latest we can expect to hear.

@songgirl16 hey so yeah, I get the concern. Judging by simply acceptance rates and rankings, UC Berkeley is the hardest, followed closely by UCLA. Then you have SB, SD and Irvine (in that order) at the next rung - these are all fairly around the same level of difficult to get into since they all fall within the 30-38% acceptance rate zone. If you got into SD and your stats aren’t really really terrible or anything, I would feel pretty safe about SB (at least I do lol).

But yes, a rejection from SD in general would indicate a rejection from LA and Berkeley. That being said acceptances are wonky. I was waitlisted by a college with a 61% acceptance rate and my stats are pretty decent, but I was accepted into a college with a 29% rate. So yeah… it’s super weird. But I think with LA over SD the competitiveness is pretty clear :frowning:

Of course there are the added variables of your essay, your choice of major, the college’s individual review process and how holistic it is, and whether or not you’re from CA/international student or whatever.

hope this helps!! and no, just cause you didnt hear back from SD yet doesn’t mean its a rejection! Keep the faith yo

@sayrawr2 sorry to hear about your dad… but good stats, I think you’ve got this!! good luck with everything!!

This is horrible guys. In India right now and no news at all.

Do you think if my college counselor calls tomorrow, the admissions office would be nicer to them? lol

@spykrify That would be great, it wouldn’t hurt to try!

I don’t think UCSD is harder than UCSB…

well cool time to bid my goodbye lmao. University of Washington all the way then. Y’all remember that you guys are some very smart kids and no matter what you’re decision is don’t forget that you’re amazing. My mom always tells me, " you are a lot better than a pathetic person telling you that you’re not worth it’. Remember that may the admission gods be in your favor. i will let you know about my decision but won’t be attending UC’s forsure. Bye guys.

@AyushSahni98 hey Ayush, I’m in India… I got my letter!!

Oops I mean the other way around- UCSB is slightly easier than UCSD!

Almost everyone I know who got in had SAT scores ranging from 1700-2300 LOL

@RonnieD I got mine from others but not SD. One of my friends got it though…no idea bout whats going on.Where you be?
