UCSD Class of 2020 Discussion

@chubii oh yes, I have all the standard stuff like the confirmation, portal info, etc. but since the portal info I have not received anything :frowning: Iā€™m on the east coast if that even means anything.

So I think the reception email definitely means your accepted. Since we formally find out our admission decision in 3 days, they arenā€™t going to invite rejected students to the reception event. Makes sense.

Yeah, if you have received any special reception invitation youā€™re in.

I live in the San Diego area and havenā€™t received anything either. Iā€™m getting increasingly more nervous as decision day draws near because of that. Iā€™m hoping for an acceptance but Iā€™m starting to prepare for a waitlist/rejection.

Even though most people wonā€™t receive calls/invitations/whatever itā€™s still difficult to keep that in mind when it seems like everyone here is getting something! lol

Hope everyone gets what they desire! UCSDā€™s been my top school for a while, but Iā€™m definitely preparing myself for the worst - Iā€™m more than aware of UCā€™s erratic admission decisions. Canā€™t wait to finally hear back, whatever the decision is, and have this weight lifted off my shoulders. :]

usually what kind of admits will receive those reception invitation?

The wording on my portal changed from ā€œWe are thrilled you have applied to UCSDā€ to ā€œThank you for applying to UCSDā€

I received a call, but I have no received a reception email. Interesting.

@wilddaffodils The wording also changed on my portal!

@newapplicant Iā€™m not exactly sure but I was thinking it could be the same criteria for the calling campaign. I got it and Iā€™m not in the top 30% (I think??) but I am a URM, soā€¦

Same @wilddaffodils @kuidaore

They changed on my portal too but I didnā€™t get a call or email!

Honestly, Iā€™m flipping out. I donā€™t know what to do! I got the supplemental request, but havenā€™t received a phone call or an email invite or a mail invite to that dinner. I really love UCSD and if I donā€™t get into UCLA, I was really hoping I could go there. Does anyone know any info about the stats of those that received the email/dinner invites?

@treehugger505 Me too

@jackisawesome I wouldnā€™t worry too much about not receiving anything. A good friend of mine with a 4.something GPA, a 2380 SAT, and numerous 800s on subject tests hasnā€™t gotten any phone calls or anything from them either.

The wording on my portal also changed. Can anyone who got a call/postcard/VIP tour invite/whatever report back on what their portal says now?

Iā€™m hoping I will be called anytime this week even though admission decisions are soon coming. I want to know early too. Good luck to the people who havenā€™t yet received the reception email.

soooo did everyoneā€™s portal change? bc I didnā€™t get any calls or emails either but mine changed.

Finally got the call from UCSD following the postcardā€¦probably not regents thoughā€¦

if your parents had ā€œsome collegeā€, do you count as a first generation college student?
