The attendees in my VIP tour group were from SD, Riverside, OC and as far as LA. It was held mid-morning so we had to skip school for a day to attend.
@SD2020 Yeah they’re all So Cal within vicinity lol
This is the first year they’re doing it - we’re the Guinea pigs.
The UCs are trying to admit and educate a lot more Californian students. I think many students from the region who attend VIP tours will be admitted. In the end, the school wants you to love your visit and ultimately SIR there.
Ugh, wish I could go on the March VIP tour date… Gonna have a really hard time convincing my mom to skip school.
@IBGuy101: Tell your mom it’s only one day. It would bolster your confidence to have a top college “recruit” you. We will get enough “rejection” soon enough - it’s to feel wanted. Go for it!
@SD2020 Thanks for your input. I will probably just attend school on that day. Exams don’t have a day off 0_0.
Definitely go on the VIP tour if you were invited. The experience was fantastic! I’ve fallen in love with UCSD since.
@IBGuy101 Makes sense why your mom didn’t want you to attend - what a lousy timing! My mom’s cool on letting me go to any college events I get invited to. She said it’s the only legitimate reason to skip school. Hehehe
@ronburg11 I only got it for UCSD, but not for UCLA or UCI.
I only got a supplemental from UCSD but I also applied to UCLA and UCD. Honestly don’t think I have a shot at all for UCLA but I’m really hoping I get into SD. Also going for bioengineering with a 2010 SAT as an international student
Good luck everyone!
I’m in a similar boat as you @mash97 as far as the supplementals go Got it for UCSD, but not for Davis or UCLA. I have a 2170 SAT and a 4.2 UC W GPA (4.3 as of last semester, which was requested by UCSD). grr I’m super anxious
I’ve heard from a couple of people at school that UCSD is coming out on the 15 but I haven’t read that anywhere yet. This wait is the worst!
I’ve heard of UCSD doing a call campaign? Will that occur once again? And if so, what is the time period that it will occur?
I would assume they are doing the calling campaign this year.
It seems like they do it in early March, so I would expect the calling campaign to start either this week or next week.
Yikes
Do they call every accepted applicant?
@IBGuy101 no. According to: http://adminrecords.ucsd.edu/Notices/2015/2015-2-23-2.html they only call URMs, Regents Scholars, Chancellor’s Associate Scholars, and the top 30% of admits. Everyone else will find out whenever they release decisions on the portal.
@IBGuy101 lol that would be almost impossible cause there are just way too many applicants. They MIGHT try to call every accepted applicant (i don’t really know so don’t take my word for it) but I’m sure they mostly just call regents people and URM
Yea, its fine. I am an URM so hopefully the VIP tours meant something. I don’t know about you guys but I am probably not gonna answer my phone in the middle of class 0_0. Wondering how they will schedule this.
