UCSD Class of 2021 Discussion/Decisions

@blackonyx I reread the cover letter and it really seems more geared towards incoming freshmen.

Hi guys!
I got the letter in the mail today, but did not receive an automatically generated e-mail after attempting to log in to the off-campus housing website. Also, @jewishmother , is this evidence conclusive? I looked and could not reach any definite source that stated that the letter equated to an early acceptance. I’m not trying to be rude, but I am genuinely curious about the letter. Don’t know whether to be happy or sad; just a skeptic of all things CC lol.

I got a generated email. Is this only for UCSD or does this trick apply to any other university too?

@InfiniteLibrary I believe only UCSD, but it may mean nothing. In fact, it’s more likely to mean nothing.

If anyone receives a supplemental application email from UCSD, please post about it here! If I’m correct, I believe that are sent out between now and February 1st.

@literaturechoi Based on last year’s thread, it would appear conclusive. Having said that, this is a new year and their strategy may have changed. The common theme from last year was, why would they spend $$ on prospective students if the didn’t want to enroll them? And by $$, I mean a t-shirt and a meal :wink: . Go back to this time last year and see for yourself.

I received a supplemental application today asking me if I had any personal circumstances such as employment, family responsibilities or illness that have significantly hampered your ability to achieve academically thus far?

Did anyone else get this?

Is it a good thing?

I didn’t receive a invite to the all access tour :frowning:

For those who received the invite, what were your/your kids’ stats like?

33 ACT
1540 SAT
800 Math II

GPA and intended major? @ZHB1999 thanks :slight_smile:

@rawrxd Well it depends. It’s possible that you’re a borderline applicant. Would you mind sharing your stats and intended major?

I’m really bummed about not getting the invite…oh well.

@wormholes it’s probably for in-state applicants only, and only the most highly qualified. Far more applicants probably didn’t get it than did.

@wormholes Sorry, forgot. 3.95 UW. Computer Science.

@poliscihopeful7 I am in-state :frowning: hopefully I can still get in…

@ZHB1999 Thank you!

Did anyone on here who’s an in-state, freshman applicant NOT get the invite? haha

Hey guys today I received a supplemental application from UCSD asking me for my first semester grades and to answer a question about personal circumstances. I see someone else got this too. What do these usually indicate?

@alow33 From what I observed in previous threads, it may mean that you’re in between accept and reject - they need more information before admitting you. Try to answer the questions well anyway whether or not I’m right.

@alow33 @rawrx Did the housing email trick work for you?
