@KevinHuu: Would not read anything into receiving the brochure. UCSD is trying to get you excited about possibly attending their school and since you are OOS, the additional tuition you will be paying if you do enroll is an extra bonus $$$$.
Received the brochure and letter today on the East Coast. UW GPA 4.0, 2360 SAT
is it true that UCSD is UC Socially Dead ?
I’ve now been accepted to SDSU and USD, so here’s hoping I can go 3/3 on San Diego schools in about a month! Hopefully UCSD won’t let me down!!
Is the housing trick still valid? I checked my portal today and saw that I had an email and all of my friends that I’ve talked to have the email too. Is there anyone that doesn’t have the email?
@thenotgreat I see an e-mail as well. There was someone earlier in the thread that stated they didn’t see one, but I really don’t feel that we can see it as a reliable indicator of a decision since the e-mail addresses happened so soon, not enough time for UCSD to reliably give a decision. On the flip side, it’s definitely not a bad sign.
I’m in state and I didn’t receive any kind of postcard or letter inviting me to visit or to thank me for applying. I can’t say I’m surprised I got rejected, but I thought I might at least get the request for additional info if I was on the fence, but I guess schools really only give a shit about your SATs. Here are my stats I guess…
GPA: 3.97 UW: 3.6
*Top 9% of my class
SAT: 1150; 600 reading, 550 math
Major: Visual Arts
Essays: One was about being the team captain of my JV swim team and how much I grew to love my teammates and didn’t really care about what we scored. Another was about being the yearbook editor, one about how my Spanish teacher saved me from a perpetual cycle of low self-esteem, and finally one about how I’m drawing a portrait of each one of the seniors in my class for my senior project.
ECs: Art summer school, swim team, volunteering at an animal shelter and with a local artist, working in a gallery.
Again I’m so bummed… I thought that my strength as an artist would really give me a boost, but I guess UCSD is just as greedy as any other college.
@h1pnand3z Don’t worry! I didn’t get any sort of post card either but I haven’t given up hope. My friend, who received Cal Regents, never received anything from UCSD in the mail, so I don’t think it’s indicative of acceptance or rejection.
@h1pnand3z does the housing trick work for you?
@splp12345 , could you please post your daughter’s stats? I too am a girl, applied for CS at UCSD… consumed with worry right now. ACT 35, NMF, 4.1 GPA, lots of national, international and state writing awards, leadership, community service etc.
Haven’t been accepted to even UCI (which i thought was a safety)
@pristinechris , just because UCI is a relative safety for you doesn’t mean you should have gotten in this early. Very few UC acceptances have been released yet. You sound extremely well qualified and wildly unlikely to get shut out of UC’s. But, if you get an invite to an Honors College event at UCI, respond promptly. My older D got one of those and pondered for a few days whether she wanted to go… and therefore it was decided for her, because it was full when she went to sign up. (I don’t remember when exactly in the spring that happened - it was four years ago - but I don’t think it was this early. I’m not following any UCI lists to know what’s going on there currently, as my younger D didn’t want to apply there.) There’s no point being consumed with worry - you’re well positioned to get at least one good offer, probably several. Breathe
@pristinechris Don’t know if anyone mentioned it yet, but in the past, UCSD students start calling some of the admitted students around March 1. Btw did you get the invitation to the Chancellor’s Reception from UCSB?
@pristinechris UCI is not a safety for anyone…
Hey everyone! I got into UCI with CHP today Obviously, I know that all the UCs are separate in their decisions, but do you think this could be a good indicator of (hopefully) an acceptance to UCSD?
Hey there,
I got both the Chancellor’s invite to UCSB and got into UCI today! I would assume that an acceptance early to UCI means that you’ve got a pretty good shot at UCSD, as good a shot as anyone else.
By the way, what is CHP when you’re referring to getting into UCI?
@cinnamonman23 CHP = Campuswide Honors Program
@youcee if you are accepted early to UCI such as @wormholes , is it automatically part of the CHP at UCI?
@cinnamonman23 I don’t know
@cinnamonman23 Yes, I think everyone who gets into UCI early is offered either CHP, Regents, or both.
I’m sorry if this question has already been asked, but did all applicants get their decision email today?
