Soo I've been hearing a lot of stuff about UCSD

Is UCSD as socially dead as everyone says it is?

What is there to do around there besides the beach?

How's the school spirt? (Mediocre sports = less school spirit)

No. You aren’t going to be able to walk around campus and find keggers every ten yards, but REALLY if you make friends with the right people parties are plentiful. I would highly recommend joining the greek system.

That depends what you’re into. Shopping, downtown La Jolla (boutiques/shops, restaurants, coffee shops), Sea World, Gaslamp district in downtown San Diego (clubs, restaurants etc), Pacific Beach (PB) is a really cool area, parties, concerts, sporting events (chargers games etc) I really could go on and on. Although our beaches ARE beautiful - you should check them out sometime.

School spirit is mediocre, except on certain nights like Spirit Night (last home bball game of the season). I thought it would be really bad too but it honestly doesn’t bother me at all.

Is UCSD as socially dead as everyone says it is? no.

What is there to do around there besides the beach? san diego is not much MUCH different from other places. what is there to do at other places that is extraordinary? so whatever you can think of to do where you’re from, you can most likely do here too…but omg the beaches are wonderful. snorkeling and kayaking at la jolla cove. yay! there’s also downtown san diego…gaslamp district…

How’s the school spirt? (Mediocre sports = less school spirit) not much school spirit as far as sports, but you don’t come here for the sports lol

This “Socially Dead” thing is a crack-up. For many people it seems to mean “Are there big parties with alcohol that I can stumble into without even looking for them?” First of all, none of us worked this hard to get into a top college just so we can binge drink
24/7. There’s nothing wrong with parties but where do you think they come from? If you want a vibrant social atmosphere, make some friends and have a party. It’s not the place that makes the social scene it’s the people. So like your mother always said: if you want a friend, be a friend. Ergo, if you want a certain kind of socail life, exactly what ingredient is SD missing that keeps you from organizing it?

the socially dea d thing is being blown out of proportion… sure there’s a fair share of boring kids that stay in their dorms all they but c’mon… you’ll be living with thousands of kids your age, away from parents. There’s plenty of fun to be had if you put in the effort to find it. Go outside, make some friends, join clubs… etc. Parties aren’t going to fall into your lap

Again… People that help spread the “socially dead” rumors consist of “losers”-in-High School who came to college with dreams and aspirations of getting laid to find that their hopes didn’t come true so they just rant to others.
