@themightybicycle Sorry it took so long to respond. I talked to a UCSD outreach person and they literally said, “You’re either going to do them here or there. We don’t care either way. Which one do you think would be easier?” I was like… Well then. It seems they don’t even care if you do it during summer. They were super chill about prerequisites when I talked to them.
@TwistedMetal246 you should be able to use your two years of high school language. But don’t you need something to apply to a community college, such as the exit exam?
@lindyk8 No, you need it for financial aid which I don’t qualify for anyway. I’ve already called all the UCs and made sure that a high school diploma or ged isn’t a requirement for transfer students.
Do you think I have a chance at SD with my stats?
@twistedmetal246 If you look at UCLA profile of admitted students (the only UC that has this detailed info) you will see that Religion has an average admitted GPA of 3.6. Probably a little less for UCSD.

However, depending on your life circumstance, you could stand a better shot. Seeing as you dropped out of high school and managed to get back into the swing of things, shows determination and commitment. However, your GPA is low.
Are you a first generation college student? That will help a bit.
Anyhow, really make your PS’s stellar. If you have hardships, consider one essay on how you overcame it. And ECs will help - activities connected to your spiritual/giving/commitment/public service side (whatever it is about religion that moves you).
Yeah I’m definitely trying to make my PS’s great. It’s kind of difficult to not make it sound cliche lol I don’t want it to sound like some kind of sob story. I’m also planning on applying to Davis, Irvine, and Riverside what do you think my chances are there?
@TwistedMetal246 It really depends on so many factors. But I would say if everything is completed properly, you may have a shot at Riverside. Have you considered Santa Cruz?
You might have been able to TAG Santa Cruz, Riverside or Merced for guaranteed admission, but it sounds like you didn’t do that. It needed to be done month of sept.
Chem E is not easier. Sure there are less people applying but then there is limited space. You also need to finish a year of organic chemistry before transferring in most UC.
Anyone applying from out of state cc? I am from Washington and want to do chemical engineering.
Does anyone know if sociology is an impacted major at UCSD? How can we see if majors are impacted?
@naregian Palomar right now. But I might be enrolled at both next semester.
@UCItransfer23 It doesn’t look like sociology is impacted.

@poisontea If you look at your major requirements you can see which college has the most courses in similar with your major courses so they overlap. Here’s a link to major requirements page for Management Science:

Does anyone know if UCSD offers early decision/action for transfer students?
nope ^^^^. It’s a rolling basis, dribbles out with no rhyme or reason.
@Lindyk wait so UCSD will come out earlier than April?
@themightybicycle The last couple of years UCSD released a batch and then nothing seemed to happen until around April 18. Last year they released a batch around March 18. I think that was the only batch. In 2014, they may have released two small early batches (I know there was at least one), then it all grinded to a halt until around April 18.
I’m not quite sure why they do that as it is extremely nerve-wracking. I think just setting one day for all is the way to go.
Are acceptance letters mailed as physical copies or emailed?
Both
You get two copies?
Are the students with better stats admitted during the first batch or is it all just randomly selected?
@lopapo Random at every UC, although most TAGs hear early. (I’m referring to other UCs as UCSD does not have TAG.)
@sbrapunzel you usually find the results first by going to your portal. There is supposed to be a congratulatory email that is sent at the same time, although it usually lags - and sometimes never shows up. You get the mailed packet usually within a couple of weeks.
Best place to find results is portal.
