@lenocturne You are saying that if you get below a 3.4 during the fall semester but your overall gpa is still higher than 3.4 your TAG is void. I am saying that you can get anything below the requirement during the fall or spring and if your gpa is still higher than 3.4 your tag is not void. I took that quote directly from my tag agreement.
@KanaNishino directly from UCI tag webpage:
“has earned a minimum GPA of 3.4 in all UC-transferable coursework by the end of the summer 2015 for fall 2016 admission and will maintain GPA of 3.4 in all UC-transferable coursework for all subsequent terms”
Subsequent = fall 2015 and spring 2016 (for fall 2016 admission), so yes, if your gpa falls below 3.4 for fall or spring, your tag contract will be void, regardless of your final gpa.
P.S: This has been confirmed by numerous applicants on this forum, but you are more than welcome to give it a try and let us know if you still get accepted with tag
@lenocturne directly form my tag agreement:

If you would be kind to see the word “overall” in the maintain gpa bullet point.
Guys, there is a UCI thread to discuss this.
looks like the site is down again
Do you guys think more decisions will come out tomorrow?
The site always goes down around midnight and more often than not, decisions seem to be released on Fridays.
CCC transfer student for fall 2016 UCSD what are my chances of getting in
major:molecular biology
IGETC:completed
Contracts with UCSD: I have university link for 3.0, but my major isn’t guaranteed I believe
Pre reqs: taken all my lower division classes, except only missing calc 3 (because I taken stats instead which doesnt cover for this major)
overall gpa:3.18
community service: over 200 hours
I also worked and was the captain of my sports team
I put asian as my ethnicity (but I’m middle eastern)
should I change my major to human biology to increase my chances since I don’t need calc 3 to increase my chances?
@molecbio Why would you put asian as your ethnicity if you’re middle eastern?
@goldencub Most middle eastern people are either Asian or North African depending on their native country. Similar to Indians. We tend to categorize Indians and Asians as different, but broadly Indians are Asians.
Middle Eastern was actually a term coined by Western military officials for the sake of specificity. Most natives of those countries would only refer to themselves as specific by their nationality or broad continental ethicity. So it is interchangeable for them.
Doesn’t matter anyways because race/ethnicity isn’t taken into account.
@TheVisionary I guess. It just seemed odd that they would identify as x, but put y down under ethnicity, especially considering it doesn’t affect the application at all.
@molecbio You should be fine since you have U-link. From the last time I talked to a UCSD counselor, she told me that the biology department isn’t impacted anymore. I’m a human biology major and also have the U-link contract when the required gpa was still a 3.0.
Long waiting and unchanging message just make me sick. “Thank you for your application…” message has burned into my retina, and I feel my health is getting worse.
@chuclan21 lol totally feel you with the “burned into my retina” comment
@molecbio Bro Im middle eastern and I put african american xD. They need that diversity and I doubt they end up verifying so I thought I would give it a shot to increase my chances.
@chuclan21 lol Couldn’t be more spot on.
@Collegebro1996 Believe it or not, colleges can find out a lot about a person. You might get away with essentially lying about where your from, I wouldn’t take the risk. It makes no sense to alter your application to appeal to the admission officers. You should be confident enough to trust your application.
@Collegebro1996 I wouldn’t do that, if I were you. If colleges have the authority to rescind an admission offer or even a degree, then you might be in trouble. If you haven’t already done it, then please don’t do it.
Interesting discussion re: choosing an ethnic background. From what I understand it’s completely self reported and not subject to the burden of proof. I’d be willing to bet that rescinding admission based on your ethnic or cultural background regardless of the reason would be illegal.
