@plgills I applied to Haas does everyone have to do an interview or whats the deal with that? If we do need to interview is that a good sign? I know this is the wrong forum for that but im curious and slightly nervous as Haas is my top choice.
It’s okay guys! We’ve been waiting months what’s 2 days, more time to prepare I guess (
@lucasdaboiii I really don’t know! I’m sorry
@lucasdaboiii if you’re not already on the 2018 Haas transfer thread you should ask there cuz someone might know something
@Princetonian9 I’m interesting in the campus and the major! I was put up for the $20,000 Karl S. Pister scholarship over there so I’m really considering it. I was just wondering if you left because you had a bad experience with their psychology department. I know it’s not exactly their forte, but I’m not in the position to turn down $20,000 if I do end up being the recipient. Thank you for the input!
@earlytransfer11 that’s awesome!! Congrats! I’d love to share more with you if you’re interested, I know gathering a lot of perspectives always helps. Like I mentioned earlier I didn’t take any psych classes there so I don’t know anything about the psych department :// however when it comes to campus life or anything else I can definitely give you my opinions :]
Friday seems like such a long time from now especially because Im on spring break, but luckily I get to scrub in for a 9 hr procedure at hospital tomorrow so hopefully that takes my mind of it.
@vaneeters hey awesome to hear! Tell me more… how’d you go about doing that?
I applied to be an Intern at City of Hope Medical Center in the surgery department and got it and now i get to scrub into procedures and see patients during Clinic, but as for tomorrow we have a pancreaticoduodenectomy or a “whipple” procedure. hope it goes good !
pancreaticoduodenectomy…longest word I’ve ever seen, lol
That’s so damn awesome! I’ve always wanted to do surgery I gotta find me something like that. Did you have any prior experience that you think helped you get in ?
Sorry for any false hope guys!!! I was just really hoping the whole speaking it into existence thing would work out haha
@dondell try writing it down correctly, thats the struggle I faced lol.
@Princetonian9 I was a volunteer there for a year so I was familiar with the nurses and doctors and just asked them and they helped me out that`s mostly it. Also on my first day I was really nervous but i had no reason to because most of the fellows were goofballs and just great company to be around and gain experience from, plus they called there attending Papa Bear so there was that.
@eastcoastleo no prob homegirl! We just 2 days away! Thanks for sharing with us though always appreciate input.
@vaneeters dang that sounds like a great opportunity, hope you have fun tomorrow and hear good news soon
@earlytransfer11 hi! i am happy to answer any psychology questions you have. I transferred to UCSD fall 2017 as a psychology major and I will be president of Psi Chi fall 2018. UCSD is one of the only undergrad programs that has specialties (social, clinical, neuroscience, cognitive, developmental, etc.) I am very happy with the program and the faculty support. Anything specific you want to know?
@muffinpoptarte hello! I applied for psychology with a specialization in cognitive psychology as my alternate major, I was wondering if you could tell me anything you knew about the major which made it different than general psychology and cog sci? I like both and thought this would be a good balance to channel both. Thanks!
Anyone know anything about the philosophy program/reputation at UCSD?
