UCSD Financial Aid

I got accepted to UCSD and UCSB but noticed that the preliminary financial aid I am getting for UCSB is a lot higher than UCSD, about 5K higher. UCSD is my first choice though, I was wondering if anyone else had a similar experience?

Yeah, I got 4k more from UC Davis than I did from UCSD.

I got about 1.5k more from UCSD than UCD.

i had a familiar experience last year. UCLA offered me a few thousand more than UCSD and UCSD offered me a couple thousand more than SB.

this year though, UCSD and UCSB offered me the same amount. :/

I really hope one school offers me way more than the others. Right now UCSD and UCSB have both offered me roughly the same amount, with UCSD being slightly more generous.

I’ve got equal love for Berkeley and UCLA at this point. If I get in to both, I’d be happy at either. I hope one gives me a really really great offer!

me too theregoesevan, i applied for the Academic Achievement scholarship at Berkeley and that one is worth $6,000. last year LA gave me a $5,000 scholarship…assuming that I get the same amount at LA this year and the AAP scholarship from Cal, i really think because of my situation $1000 can make all the difference.

i kinda do hope one school does offer me more cuz i am really undecided where i want to go, my sister says “go to Bizerkly, it has the best anthro dept.!!!”
but idk

Berkeley does! I was looking that up today! UCSB trump UCSD in anthropology, too :/

yeah and what about that awesome EOP program at SB?
lets not forget how awesome UCLA is too :(

i am so conflicted about everything, what are we gonna do?

So what do they base their fin aid decisions on??? And which school usually offer better fin aid deals?

UCSD offered me a 9k grant. Which is a butt-load more than i thought i would get. In fact, i would have not bean surprised if i got nothing. I thought that my parants make too much money, and all of those financial aid estimator things said that I wouldn’t get anything.

For anyone reading this-- FILL OUT FAFSA. No matter what. Even if you are positive that you won’t get anything. It’s kinda a hassle, but well worth it. And even if you don’t get anything, at least you won’t have a what-if hanging over you (which is why I ultimately decided to do it).

Ya I got about 4,000 dollars more from UCSD than UCSB gave me. But works out perfect for me cause SD is my first choice! Lol.
