So i've been looking into greek life, as well as talking to friends who are in the greek system at various schools, and I know for sure that I want to rush. Anyone out there who can comment on the top houses @ UCSD, how rush week is, hazing, etc?

are you considering rushing fraternities or sororities?
the process for each of these couldn’t be more different. lol.

Ah forgot to mention, fraternity haha. I’ve looked at a lot of rush videos for the frats @ UCSD but that’s about it.

No one with the greek experience here?>

For IFC fraternities, you will pre-select which chapters you would like to rush and then attend events for those chapters throughout rush week. The events start out casual (think beach BBQs) and then get more formal, like alumni mixers that are invite-only.

As far as “top houses” go, it’s not really best to go into it with that attitude - you should be more concerned with finding a house that fits your personality and where you get along well with the chapter members. During the first couple weeks of fall quarter, the fraternities will be boothing on library walk - this is a good chance to ask them questions and to try and get to know which chapters you’re most interested in. You can go to rush events for several fraternities in the beginning of the week if you’re not sure, and sort of narrow it down as the week goes on (there is no commitment required). You’ll find out if you have received a bid by the end of the week!
