After I transfer from my CC to UCSD, I get a fresh clear GPA. Then to enter a program like this http://ece.ucsd.edu/honors , I just need to get the required GPA level during the fall quarter and possibly the winter quarter to enter it, correct? Also I plan to do a double major, is there any sort of restriction for doing honors programs for both?

Yes, you’ll apply for that at the end of winter quarter, so they’ll see fall and most likely winter grades.

While I don’t think there is an official restriction for doing the honors programs for two majors, there might be some unofficial ones. First, doing an honors program for a major is a huge time commitment, such that I think most people underestimate it. Look at just what you linked, you’ll already have to take 8 units of an honors project and a grad level seminar class. Plus, it looks like they want you to have your project submission ready to go by spring quarter, and in winter you’ll be busy with your grad seminar, cs major, and other major. If you want to do another honors program in a different major you’ll have even more to worry about. Second, while you’ll have 240 units as a double major you should still be careful and go see an academic adviser. I know some majors don’t count the honors courses units towards the total needed for the major. So, you might go over the limit with two majors + bunch of honors classes.

If you really want to be in two honors programs I’d recommend heading more in the direction of doing your major program if your GPA is there and doing the honors program of your college, not another major. The college honors programs require way less of your time, if any at all. Keep in mind, you’re mostly likely transitioning from semesters to quarters for the first time. Plus, you’re a double major so it’s twice the work, and with 2 honors programs more like 4 times the work.

Thank you, that was the exactly the information I needed :D. I definitely want to do both of my majors above all else so I’ll see if it’ll push me over the unit limit like you said. I’m used to the work though. Not to sound conceited or anything, but I’m setting the record at my present school and pushing it to 32 units of honors with my O-chem and Physics this semester, along with working on my presentation for the upcoming HTCC conference.
