I’m currently browsing around freshman admission requirements at UCSD and of them is that you must not have a grade lower than a “C”. Assuming this is the same throughout all the other UC’s, my sophomore year of High School, I humbly earned a “C-” in Spanish 2. Is a “C-” considered lower than a C or do they mean “D’s” and “F’s.” Thank you.
- and - are not used by the UC's, so a C- is still a C. No D's and F's in a-g courses is the requirement.
@gumbymom really? the one thing i loved about my community college was that they also did not use + and -, which meant I could have the lowest A possible and still keep a perfect GPA. But I knew that would change once I transferred because I thought UC’s did use + and -. But if they don’t, that’s great!
C- is acceptable for the a-g classes but, it may be difficult to earn a competitive GPA for UCSD. 4.16 was the average this year.

Good luck
@LuckyName i believe she meant that UCs don’t factor that into admissions GPA. There is a difference between + and - once you are a UC student.
Sorry, what I meant was on the UC application, - or + are not used to report HS grades on the application. The UC’s do use -/+ grading system
i got all excited, haha.
