Should I go to UCSD or Stanford? I've been accepted to both. Money is not a problem for me. I want to major in Biology.

... you were smart enough to make it into two very good schools, don't let a forum of anonymous internet strangers tell you what to do with the rest of your life. besides, if your previous posts hint to anything, i think you already know your answer. :)

I'd definitely go to Stanford, at least for a year or two to see if you like it. You can always transfer back to UCSD if you don't, whereas transferring to Stanford is near impossible. Getting into Stanford is an extremely unique opportunity to go to one of the very best universities on the planet, UCSD is obviously a great school too, but Stanford just seems like it's to much to pass up.

stop asking such a pointless question on CC. We can clearly see through the absurdity.

you're either a pretentious ass or you don't deserve to go to stanford if you're seriously asking that question.

calm down guys, its his or her choice to ask the question. stanford is obviously a good school but there could be a perfectly good reason why he's or she's torn between stanford at UCSD.

lol yea right stanford 100% no questions asked

Maybe they surf.

im sorry...i didn't mean to offend anyone with my question. it's just that ucsd is much closer to home...and to be honest, i dont know how to live a life of independence...i never expected to get into stanford

Yeah that's a tough decision for some people too; whether to move out and be far from home or stay close. If you feel like you're not ready to move out, then UCSD would be a great choice since it is also a great school to start with. My dad wanted me to attend a Cal State college cause it's really close to home, but I chose to move to SD and start being more independent. So it's up to you, whether you feel like you should go far or stay close at home. Good luck =)

Do you realize what an amazing feat it is to get into STANFORD? I'd definitely go to Stanford over UCSD, no contest at all. Some people dream and apply to Stanford hoping for admission like a lottery ticket. You shouldn't pass this up.

"and to be honest, i dont know how to live a life of independence"

that's the goal of college, in a nutshell. to GROW UP. no pampering beyond that. and really, palo alto isn't the same thing as moving across the country -- if money's not an issue as you say, you can fly home every other weekend until you're not homesick anymore and then start to work on making a life for yourself.

I heard Stanford babies its students, so it may ease the transition to independence. :)

I hate these kinds of posts...the choice is so obvious! Stanford...duh!

Don't pass up Stanford. That's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that you might really regret later. My niece went there, and it opened so many doors for her.

I know multiple students at UCSD who turned down Stanford. No joke. But money was an issue for them.

Do you by any chance know someone named Harvad_Hopeful? :)

Just curious. Did they pass on CAL and UCLA too?

maybe those students got a regents scholar from ucsd and not cal and ucla

Millie: yes, they did.

So MIT/HYSP or UCSD?????!!
