I’m an out of state student. I believe UCs only look at sophomore and junior year grades so I’ll just post info from that (calculating only sophomore/junior year GPA)
unweighted GPA: 3.84
weighted GPA: 4.92
I took 4 AP classes in my junior year and none in my sophomore year.
2170 SAT score.
I have very mediocre extra curricular activities.

i got one from ucsd today

Thanks for posting everybody! I didn’t get one, personally, but I hope this is helping out a couple of people who were as anxious as I was.

@trivia24 Thanks. I hope I got accepted to UC B! :)

I got one yesterday… For my UCD supplemental I had the opportunity to provide a teacher recommendation. For UCSD there was not such request.

How do you find out if you’ve received a questionnaire?
Do you get a mail or do you have to log in to their respective application tracking systems?

PS: I haven’t received any in the mail yet, though I have a very unique EC! Should I be worried?

You’re notified of being a recipient through email. Which UCs have you applied to?

I got one from Berkeley, but haven’t heard back from any of the other UCs.

I think that UCLA, UC Berkeley, UC Davis, and UCSD are done sending out their supplementals. Not sure about UCI, though…

@Parent
Same here. That’s probably because UCSD gives you fewer days to fill it out.

@parent my ucsd supplement didn’t ask for a letter of rec either
@trivia24 I think UC berkeley is done but im not sure about UCLA. they started sending them out on jan 31st. Berkeley started sending them out on the 6th but I only received mine on the 21st.

Oh, oops! Thanks for the clarification @bindra1996 :)

I am almost certain my supplemental questionnaire is for the borderline student.
I’m a little late in this conversation but here are my stats:
GPA UW- 3.12
GPA UC W- 3.45
SAT -2160 (m-730, r-730, w-700)
SAT 2 (chem-740, history-750, math2-720)
6 APs total, 3 junior year and 3 senior year
Took a community college math course and educational program during the summer in a foreign language.
Several long term (~4 yr) ECs, MVP on sports team, no leadership positions
Mentioned some family hardships that I did not elaborate very much on, which is probably why they’ve sent me the questionnaire. Otherwise, I’m very surprised at the fact that UCSD has even considered sending me a questionnaire, given my GPA. I doubt I’ll be admitted though- I accidentally pressed the enter key while imputing grades and sent in a horribly incomplete form. I hope these numbers help!

@alyssdfreak I think I recieved one because I am a borderline student as well, however, someone earlier said they thought they recieved one because they were borderline and their supplemental questionairre sounded like it had different questions than mine. Would you mind posting what they asked you on the questionairre?

exactly what does ‘borderline student’ mean?
I did not recieve any supplemental questions from any of the UCs, should I be worried?
Here are my stats:
UW GPA 3.93
SAT 2020 (CR 600/M 770/W 650)
Bio M 600 Math II 660
Out-of-state.

thanks!

@joann0510 I’ve inferred that “borderline student” means that the student does not normally"qualify" with their stats for the institution. But they do have the potential to succeed, academically or otherwise, at the institution and their previous efforts may not have been fully showcased in the past due to several factors (such as special circumstances or disability). It’s the college’s way of saying that “We don’t want to reject you (at least, not yet) but we need you to prove yourself a little bit more and stay in our good graces.” Hope that helped!

I have a 4.1 and a 1510 sat, is that astronomically low for ucla? I applied as an english major and can say my essays were pretty good. Although my extracurricular activities were only limited to one club ( a college club since I started college as a junior and have approximately 45-60 transferrable units ) and my volunteering was only as a church youth mentor and makeup artist for plays, proms, photos, cheerleading, etc. Should I dismiss ucla all together ? I am overwhelmed with trepidation :(

@Prosaicminds As much as your stats matter, you matter. Despite the admission rates of UCs like UCLA and UCB, I’d like to believe that they stick to their word and choose holistically rather than purely number-based. I think you should only be concerned with how well your application showcased who you are and what you have to offer rather than whether your number match up with others. Good luck!
