Just submitted my opt in essay. now for that long wait until june

I was waitlisted to UCSD too, I have a 3.3 GPA and I’m a chemistry major, which I know is pretty competitive. Does anyone know when exactly we are expected to send out our official transcripts? And also, if our planning to take courses change, will that influence their admission decision?
Thanks and Good Luck!

Accepted: UCSB,UCDavis, UCSC
Waitlisted: UCSD, UCI
Rejected: UCLA

@SoCalVetGal I believe veterans were a recent addition to the UniversityLink program. So if you made your ed plan more than a year ago, it may not have been an option then. I have a friend who applied to UCSD and was waitlisted because his GPA fell below the TAG requirement. He is a veteran and should have received admission because his GPA is still well above the UniversityLink requirement. He visited the veterans office often and they never told him he was eligible for the program, either.

So how am I supposed to decline UCSD’s offer of admission? I’m stuck on step 3 of the SIR process and there’s nothing on my portal that allows me to decline… it’s like UCSD is trying to make me accidentally submit a SIR the way they structured this. I can’t even go back to any of the previous steps.

If I get accepted through UCSD’s waitlist, would it be possible to SIR there assuming I already SIR’d to UCSB? I ask this because its unclear of whether thats an option since I need to SIR before I will hear anything about this waitlist…

@maxpowersjr You will need to turn in your SIR for UCSB. If you did not, you will lose your spot.
In another word, UCSD will still enroll you if they decided to even after you turned in your SIR for UCSB :)

Good luck for all the people on the waitlist! There’ll be one spot opening up because I’ll be enrolling elsewhere! Too bad, I liked UCSD, but sometimes there are some schools you can’t pass up.

Is there anyone who still didn’t submit the 200 words?

@bhav007 yeah me, going to turn it in today. I’ve just been super busy.

@eastbaytransfer, same, I’m hoping to submit it today as well.

Just submitted my statement. Anyone have any clue how many people were put on the waitlist and opted in?

@eastbaytransfer they haven’t released any information on the amount of waitlisted students but an admissions rep said it was similar to last year’s. We won’t find out how many people have opted in until way after we find out our decisions

@movieguy @eastbaytransfer You said same as last year… So 2700 waitlist offers went out…

some said 80% will get in?
I doubt that…

Last year, it was like 65% or something.

@bhav007 actually it was closer to 70%

@willyz honestly I have no idea. hopefully a fraction of people opt in this year like last years 800ish who opted in out of the 2700

@movieguy, even better lol

just submitted my 200 words like 30 min ago (5/15/14 around 5:30 PM)

I still haven’t submitted it, I can’t think of anything to write.

@CollegeDropout1, you got into UCLA right?

@bhav007 Yeah, I got in!
