I'm stuck between UCSD, UCD, and UCSB. I plan on most likely being a biology and Spanish major but I'm going undeclared into all three schools since at the time of applying I was unsure. Academics are important to me but so is socializing. I'm not a big party goer though. I'm leaning towards UCSD since i'ts close to home but not to close ( I live in the LA area) and the beach and surrounding area is really amazing, but reading these posts I get a lot of the "socially dead" sterotype. Any input into these schools would be greatly appreaciated!

UCSD is not as socially dead as you might think. I visited a friend of mine who goes there and there are plenty of opportunities to party/socialize. To me SD is kind of like a blend of UCD and SB because you have the beach like SB but the party atmosphere is more mellow like UCD. It is a great school for both Biology and Spanish, too, so I say UCSD.

UCSD is pretty much a famous science school. So if you want to do science then you should go here. Don’t try to compare UCSD to UCLA or even UCSB because people there party hard. Yes, UCSD is socially dead if you lock yourself in a room and wait for people to knock your door and ask you out to a party. I personally don’t find it that bad since I am in a club and regularly go to events and dance practices but I’ve also seen someone who is too lazy to join a club and sometimes complain about how it’s so quiet over here. It’s very quiet during weekends though to be honest. We study hard during finals week to the point that I feel awkward if I take a break because everybody around me is studying.
