I do not want a room mate in the Village...
When registering for a spot can you search how many spots are open for each type of room? If not, which fills up first: Single or Super-Single?

The likelihood is that all of the singles are already going to be filled by continuing students so you won’t have a choice. That has always been the case for the last few years.

I’m not 100% certain on this one because I live off-campus, but I’m sure super singles are very rare as they usually will offer those rooms as doubles first. You usually only end up with a super single if you’re assigned roommate a roommate in a double and for some reason they decide to live somewhere else.

I also do not want a room mate.

But I will have to suck it up if I am forced to have one…

If you really don’t want an in-room roommate then you might want to live off campus. There are thousands (maybe that’s an exaggeration… hundreds? …well a lot) of students in the University City / UTC area that rent together (or sometimes alone) so that’s something to consider. If you live with off campus roommates ( not in your room) you can probably even save on housing compared to the village. I didn’t want to live with an in-room roommate so I’ve spent my first year off-campus. Also transportation to campus is free in the University City / UTC area. UCSD has a shuttle system just for students that by come by about every 10-15 minutes that goes directly to campus because there are so many of us in this area. It also goes from about 7am - midnight. So you can even stay on campus late.

UCSD seems to have overbooked The Village for this year according to a reddit poster. Best of luck with your single room wishes.

“Good luck, my friend just got an email saying that if she backed out of her contract for the Village, they would give her $2400 +1k dining dollars because the school had overbooked the place.”

I was on a tour today at UCSD and they said the village was overbooked as well.

I hope I get housing…as a transfer we are guaranteed housing. What happens if they can’t find housing for us? I really don’t want to live off campus.
