Hey everyone. I got a call tonight (technically last night since it’s past 12 am). I submitted my app like an hour and a half after they sent out the email so it took them a while for some reason.

Anyway, I signed up for substance free and it looks like they have no more singles overall. The person said they had singles for a while in substance free but those were recently filled…lucky me. So I’m in a double in Village East.

But it’s Village East…brand new and super nice so I’m not complaining. And it’s building 1 and I love that building. This is better than anything I would have gotten if I went to UCLA or Berkeley. Everyone else keep us updated once you receive your phone calls!

@zapcode, thanks for the reply; I’ll definitely be emailing them since calling seems to be such a hassle. Hopefully Grimes99 is right and we’ll be lucky enough to be put in a double - converted to a single. :D

@Anacondrea it is a mess. I’ve been paranoid throughout the day waiting for that phone call as well as stalking my email in case something comes up. Not Fun.

@Pianocat the dorm is going to be my new “home” for awhile, a single is what I prefer to feel comfortable in this new environment. No problem being social and all, but there’s a time when I need to be on my own and clear my head. I don’t see a problem with that…

I don’t think they will be giving that many double rooms as singles, since I had tried asking about it and every room I tried to get into was occupied with another person already. That being said, i already have a roommate.
I got the space assignment confirmation, but when I click on the link to confirm there is no login link on the page itself,
[UC San Diego Housing - The Village, Room Assignment](http://hdh.ucsd.edu/thevillage/roomassignment.asp)

@Pianocat: I’m 23. If I was 17/18/19, I’d be somewhat less put off by a double, but since I’m spending my own personal money on housing, I’d much rather get what I want. It’s a little weird sharing a room with another guy at 23 :P

@Pianocat: I have a room at The Village (single) reserved in the fall, but I’m gonna see how I like it this summer before deciding whether to stay there or just get my own one-bedroom apartment just south of campus.

I am a bit older then most undergrads (cough 28 cough), but really I just wanted to avoid the roommate lottery. I work at a place where the students live on center and sometimes you get a great roommate who is a lots of fun and helps with clean-ups. But sometimes you get stinky or lazy or dirty or thieving roommates and that’s a bummer. Suite-mates I can handle if they kind of suck, but a the roommate thing… it may not have been as bad if they had some sort of meet and greet for Village applicants before the room section so you can maybe find a good match.

I called last night and the leasing office was gone but the receptionist, said it will probably become available once all the room placement has been done, that way you’ll be able to see and contact your room/suite-mates. She also said a the room placement is due to be done sometime Friday.

So my roommates are pretty cool. Asian guy (poli sci like me) and a white dude (bio something.) Super chill, down to earth kind of guys though. Should be a fun summer.

Yeah, I got a call yesterday at 5pm. I never got a confirmation email or something. I was waiting for an email about my roommate, but I haven’t gotten anything so far. I’m guessing liek what mbfox125 said, we’ll be knowing who our roommates/ apt mates will be by probably next week after all the calls are done?

Okay, so I just got an email that they tried to call me. I’m at work. ■■■. NO singles left, apparently. Great.

I’m going off campus. Such a dumb system, give you no notice whatsoever so I get an email while I am at work that I need to pay NOW, didn’t get home till like 10PM, and there’s nothing left.

I’m also in East for the summer. All summer housing is in East and I think buildings 2 and 3 are in use but it’s pretty sparsely populated so it’s tough to tell.
