Hahaha… I guess I am a social butterfly but I still want some alone time away from everyone else. I remember UCD’s dining hall was horrible because they basically offered the same food every week. I grew so tired of the crappy food that I ate out a lot! Blehh… I went broke.

My main priorities for housing are cost and convenience. Everything else falls after.

I’m definitely opting for off-campus housing. Even transfer housing sounds like it would be a lot less freedom than I’m used to in my home environment. There are a lot of townhouses in UTC on craigslist for waaaay cheaper. I can spend that 4k that I’ll be saving on something else. Plus I’m bringing my two kitties with me!

The only concern I have is how I’m going to find a couple of decent roommates.

I emailed The Village about transfers and if we are guaranteed housing. Just got this email in reply:

“Thank you for your interest in The Village at Torrey Pines transfer student housing.* The lottery system actual only applies to Continuing Transfer students.* New transfers select their rooms on a first come, first serve basis-this ONLY applies to new transfers.* With Village East now open we have a total of 1800 bed spaces, so if you are interested in living here, the chances of you getting a space are very high, so long as you complete the application process and pay the $650 prepayment as soon as possible.”
*

Oh what?! “New transfers select their rooms on a first come, first serve basis-this ONLY applies to new transfers.”

So, does that mean for people who apply in May or for people who did the housing app that’s available once you’re admitted? I’d really hate to be at a disadvantage due to the “batch” admission process.

really ****ing shocking hahaha. jk but hey how do you guys know when someone replies to your comment on this website? is there a way to just know or do u have to keep checking the threads?

I wasn’t paying any attention, but did the preliminary application for the village housing ask if we wanted a single room?
What kind of questions were asked?

Where can we find the application for housing at the village? I can’t seem to find it.

And for those of you who have applied, have you submitted your SIR? I hear that you can apply to housing regardless of whether you decide to go to SD but only go through the full application process after you SIR. Not sure if this is only towards freshmen or for transfers as well?
