yes. that's correct. what you get from paying the housing fee, is a housing priority date. in the event you are offered admission, then you apply them for a specific dorm and housing is assigned based upon the priority date that you have.

you don't have to pay the housing fee after you apply, but it is strongly advised if you want to have a shot at a decent dorm.

Definitely apply for housing as soon as you get that letter that you can! It is so important to do that if you want a good priority date to get your choice of dorm! I seriously cannot stress that enough. I know so many people who didn't get their preferences when they did have a somewhat decent priority date.

Thanks for the info...also, it specified different things that we needed to submit in the application. One example would be proof of florida prepaid. When and how do we send in those little pieces of information.

I vaguely recall that the school verified this themselves. We just told them that we had it and they billed/confirmed the program directly.

I just set up my gatorlink account and it told me to check again in 2-3 weeks. Does it really take that long though, or is that more directed for the flood of applications closer to the deadline?

yep, im paranoid

D's status page says the same thing and she did hers three weeks ago.

Nooooo...:( On an earlier post seiclan, you said that you got emailed on July 12. How much time had passed between when you applied and when you received that email? Also, where do you apply for housing?

I found the application for housing online and logged on with my gatorlink. The problem came when I was given an error message after specifying that I would be applying for residence housing. The error message read java.lang.NullPointerException . I've yet to receive the housing application email so I'm not sure whether or not that caused the error.

Anyone have a similar experience? advice would be appreciated

D submitted her UF application on July 6 and she got the email inviting her to apply for housing on July 12...which she did immediately. This was about 4 business days later.

:( thanks seiclan. I was hoping I could just beat the email and search it myself. I thought wrong and will be forced to endure an agonizing wait :)

Hey seiclan, have you been able to check the status of your application yet?

When D signed on to "check status" she got to a page that had her name, UFID number, birthday and term applying for (Summer B 2008).
Under that it said:

"The Office of Admissions has received your application for 2008 Summer B. Your file is being processed. Please return again in two-to-three weeks to check the status of your application.

Information about your application status is provided online as a convenience. While every effort is made to be timely and accurate, information conveyed by electronic means is unofficial. An official written notification of admission will be mailed to your permanent address. Please do not act on any information until you have received official notification."

She printed this page out on July 10th and it hasn't changed since then.

Wow..so much for two to three weeks. Thanks

Today the application status page changed for my daughter. It now lists application and test results that they have received. BUT, it says that they received her 2/2007 ACT....SHE NEVER SENT THAT TO THEM! She was sick that day and bombed the test big time. She did not list any schools on the free report form and her school does not put it on the student's transcripts so HOW would they have gotten these scores! This may be the anchor that completely sinks her chances at UF (although it really was a huge dream reach school for her). :(

Can't you call them and tell them that they aren't supposed to have that, or at least ask how they acquired it? They haven't started looking at the applications so it wouldn't affect your chances. I'm speculating but this just seems logical

Do you think? D could call tomorrow and just explain why she didn't want them sent...she was pretty ill that day and took them anyway (got a 20, ouch!). I don't know if it is even worth her trying though, if they have them already. Wish we knew how that happened though.

I'm sure some other, more experienced posters will add their valued input soon but as for the trying, I think everyone would agree that it is worth it. If they weren't supposed to get them, they just weren't. The situation stinks at the moment but they might be able to shed some light and hopefully discard it before the evaluations start

i would call, but i would also think that they will look at her better score on the SAT. I don't think they can use both when evaluating. i think they will take her best score and factor that in. i would call just to let them know she wasn't feeling well that day and that you never asked for those scores to be sent.

okay let's say you took the ACT twice. when you send in the second/higher test score to UF, UF will have access to your past ACT scores as well.
