UF Advice for Fresh.

I have seen this too many times...
4.6GPA
Captain of the debate club
Captain of cheer team
700 AP courses
Plays 5 instruments
Volunteer at 7 different organizations
On and on....
Then people wonder why that student wasn't offered admission...

Stop trying to sign up for everything and master everything that you truly have no interest in!!! Admissions will value you as an individual more if you put your focus into the things you are truly passionate about. You will stand out more too!

Ty for advice will write about what I care about and it shows in my transcript.

EileenM…it goes both ways technically. It could either be “that student was involved in a lot, WOW, being captain of this and that and still being able to do all this other stuff with great grades…NICE! Accept them!” or it could be “too much stuff, no dedication to a couple things…hmmm, not so sure about this one.” And if someone has too little it could be “wow AMAZING DEDICATION! Admit them!” or “not enough dedication to school, yeah, not too sure about this one.”

But in reality, both types of students are pretty much eligible for admission. Pretty much automatic rewind 5 years back or so. And even in today, they still would be eligible for admission. But see, there are only so many spaces at UF, and you really don’t know how admissions work. You can’t say how admissions work nor can you simplify their process. Other schools may be able to do that but not UF. Their process is far different, far more…I guess, unique.

You take what you have done in HS, present yourself the best you can, try to make yourself really stand out, show your love and dedication to perform at UF (but don’t be cliche) and you should have a solid shot!
