UF changes their Freshman profile?????

Middle 50% of the Class

* High School GPA of 4.0 - 4.4
* SAT of 1780 - 2060
* ACT of 27 - 31

Um, as of last time I checked on UF's site for the 2009 freshman profile the High School GPA was 4.2-4.4 and ACT of 29-31

Anyone know why this happened??

Whoa that is really weird. Yeah the stats decreased a lot from what they used to be.

Maybe they changed the stats from admitted to enrolled?

I am now above the 50th percentile in GPA and at it for ACT scores… i feel much better now :-)

That was my only guess… because I read somewhere that UF used their admitted statistics, not enrolled.

Used to be

 • High School GPA of 4.2 - 4.4
 • SAT of 1930 - 2060
 • ACT of 29 - 31

Looks like they just changed the lower end.
Could it be that they wanted to discourage people from applying due to the insane amount of applications they receive? Now that the deadline has passed, it wouldn’t really make a difference to have inflated information. Just a thought.

Does UF close admissions after Nov. 1st?

@collegesgirl:
Admissions are still accepted from November 2 - March 1, but for these, admission is considered on space-available basis.

We received an invitation to apply today. It was for National Merit Semifinalist and requested that we go to www.admissions.ufl/edu/merit to apply.

hey navarre1, that link doesn’t work.

and, as a NMSF who applied before the deadline, I never had to go through any special link. On my GatorLink account it does congratulate me on my NMSF though so I don’t see what any link would be for. Perhaps that link waives any lateness to your application?

[University of Florida - Admissions](http://www.admissions.ufl.edu/merit)

Technomance

You are right, the link doesn’t work. I just checked it. We did receive a letter dated 12/08/09 and here’s what it said.

"As a National Merit Semifinalist, you may still apply online after the priority deadline at this link: www.admissions.ufl/edu/merit "

The letter was signed by Kevin Knudson, Professor of Mathematics, Director, University Honors Program

Don’t know why it doesn’t work but thought some might find the info useful.

thanks navarre1!

So it seems that UF really does want NMSF :slight_smile: Too bad the link doesn’t work…

it should be
[University of Florida - Admissions](http://www.admissions.ufl.edu/merit)

not/edu

@Navarre, a letter from the same person with the same date was received in our household as well. The difference, it doesnt direct us to a link, but instead provided the monetary amount for each year if student advances to finalists and thay they may apply for a ONE time $ amt stipend for Undergrad research/Academic or Career Related Program.

Not sure if they handle the process differently for Natl Achievement Semis and Natl Merit Semis.

Congrats to you!

the updated numbers are in line with enrolled freshman.
