Just last week?? I submitted mine august 24th and i got that notificiation like a week after i submitted… its been like that ever since though. The woman on the phone said i was accepted. I dont know why they dont just post it now! btw for the people who are looking for apartments go to the website swamprentals.com its amazing. they tell you the areas to live in. sorority row is supposed to be the area with less traffic too… oh and idk if im going to rush. greek life is huge in UF, and im afraid everyones already made their friends hahah. Oh and btw david i have naylor in sociology too

mine was delayed because i guess they didnt receive my high school transcript till the 20th of sept. it didnt go through when i requested it on the 8th of sept.

and thats awesome! i havent even taken sociology, though i am minor of it. lol.

I am curious and have to ask! How did you guys pick up a minor? I don’t remember seeing that on the application, did I miss it?
Wonder if it will be too late to add one after going…I know I can’t change majors…

Since I’m probably pre-professional (pre-med), I’ll need some extra electives, and I was considering picking up a minor with these…

well i havent officially declared it. i did not see it on the application either (nor did i see usf’s or ucf’s) im not worry about it too much since its just a minor. they’ll probably let us declare it once we get there

I won’t be accepting my spot in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, hopefully it goes to one of you guys out there. Good luck!

Scotus where are you going instead

Hey everyone, I’m new on the boards but I’ve been reading for quite some time. I applied to CLAS as an English major for Spring '12. I’m worried because it’s a limited access program and my GPA is pretty average, a 3.3. BUT, I have a recommendation letter (although I heard UF doesn’t look at these unless your graduate/professional?) from my boss; I go to school & work at Santa Fe in Gainesville. I’ve been working in the College Relations department for over a year now as an intern as a little ‘journalist.’ I interview people and write press releases for the college, several of which have gone to the Gainesville Sun, and my boss says that’s a really good thing.

I applied VERY last minute, Sept. 14 (haha). It stills says “your app. is being evaluated, after calculating GPA, will send to your college for final decisions,” blah, blah. So I have 2 questions…how long does it take for them to make a decisions, and what do you think my odds are of getting in? P.S. I applied to FSU as a back-up option, so anyone here who knows my chances for that, please reply as well.

Thanks in advance!

Honeyfuggle: While coming from a CC, especially SF, will help I think your GPA is way too low. I called CLAS on numerous occasions to ask about letters of recommendation, adding internships to my activity sheet, etc. and was told each time that the ONLY thing they would be basing a decision on are grades (specifically how well you’ve done in prereqs).

If you’ve done all the prereqs for English and maintained a high GPA then you’d have a shot. Looking at ISIS I see they calculated my prereq GPA to a 4.0, which is probably why I got in from another 4 year. Good luck, though!

Maxine1991: I haven’t decided just yet, but definitely not UF. Maybe I won’t transfer. I actually spoke to a representative in one of the academic departments for a while and was ultimately told my decision not to come was the right one (though they pleaded for me to reconsider if possible).

Hi there Honeyfuggle,
You have some good experience, but your gpa is probably low for a limited access program. It probably will be much more difficult to get into UF than FSU, as UF has the most highly rated academics in the state. Though your experience is good, I don’t think that UF does look at anything other than GPA (and personal mini-essays) for transfers.
If anything, your experience has made you know what you want to do. If UF doesn’t work out, don’t let that stop you.

I am just curious: why English and not journalism?

Best of luck.

Yay! I just checked and I got accepted!
Major: Industrial and Systems Engineering
GPA: 3.63
Pre-professional GPA- 3.5

the only conditions are for me to pass my current classes (one is my last AA requirement and the other two are my last pre-prefessional engineering requirements.)

ky 2011 when did you apply

Accepted!
CLAS Pre-Professional Biology
GPA: 4.0
It happened last night between 10pm and 7am. I applied August 30th.

Stay strong guys!!

Accepted last Friday for Psych. 4.0 pre-prof. and 3.87 GPA. Only setback was that I had to appeal one of the conditions, but everything is squared away now.
Oh yeah, I applied on August ninth.

Man! I wish CALS would get the ball rolling. I have been accepted to UMiami already and was hoping to be able to choose between the two. I applied way back in July, and if it takes until Nov. 15th to find out, that only gives me a month to get everything in order and move my family. I am talking about moving an entire household, not a couple of suitcases and boxes. I am not a last minute kind of person, rather I am an early and meticulous planner. UF is not THAT special that it can hold my life hostage much longer. If UM was more affordable, my decision would have already been made. Tick. Tock.

Curt, I know exactly what you mean. And I would be more understanding of admissions if those who applied early got to know the decision earlier, but that’s not even the case. I applied late (September), but I know some others on here who applied as early as April to CALS and have heard nothing.
If you really need to decide between UF and UM, like tomorrow, then I would call CALS and tell them this. It seems a little demanding, but it’s a big decision.
I would want to know asap too. I probably won’t be going now though, even if I do get in because I’ve basically chosen another major (would be within CALS, but UF doesn’t care and doesn’t let you switch). So, most likely it’ll be UF down the road or UCF for me.

im still waiting for ucf as well! i applied late august for ucf? it wasnt till sept 14 they processed it (i paid late). its been a month now.

I was accepted into CALS back in June for the fall semester but had to change my transfer date to spring. They are really late with putting decisions out. If you are waiting for an acceptance just keep that in mind. Good luck to everyone!

I applied in July also. The wait is killing me!! All CALS will say is that everyone will have an answer by November 15th. I already live in the area, but I have to cut ties with my current school, make sure financial aid is ready to go, decide what classes I can fit into my work schedule, etc. At this point, I don’t even care if the answer is no; just put me out of my misery!!

New to all of this. Just curious what you guys think. I know UF supposedly is accepting more transfers than the terms before and that is a great thing. But does anyone know anything about the college of business?

I went to a out of state university then transferred home due to finances. I graduated high school last year and started taking courses at my community college in the degree of Finance.

I have a 2.94 because of my grades from out of state. but without them I have a 3.2. and my pre-prof gpa is 3.25. I have four of the seven done and have the last three in progress. I intend on making all A’s and getting an overall 3.1 and a pre-prof 3.65.

I have done a lot of research and know I am below the minimums. But I work 2 jobs and coach/play a sport. And I took 7 classes this summer and they were pretty difficult but i passed with all B’s and an A.

Ant help would be awesome. And be honest. I’m already accepted into UCF and FSU is pending.
