Hi, I am an incoming Transfer student to UF (going in with my AA), and I am looking at my housing options for Summer B and Fall. I really want my own bedroom, but I don’t mind sharing a common area/bathroom with other people.
At first I was going to apply for the four person Beaty Towers dorm, but apparently you still have to share a bedroom with another person even though the website shows four separate bedrooms.
What dorms have separate bedrooms and are nice/quiet?
If you go to the www.housing.ufl.edu website, it lists the number of “single” bedrooms at the bottom of each page for a living area. There are only about 146 single rooms available for summer B (25 in Fletcher, 28 in Sledd, 84 in Springs, and 9 in Hume) with 42 of those in Springs likely set aside for athletes, so you’d have to sign up quick to get one. More are open for fall, but they still go quick.
If you want to GUARANTEE having your own room, go for Lakeside or Keys.
If you choose a “two room double” in the Murphree area, you’d essentially have your own room.
There are some single rooms in most of the dorms throughout campus, but good luck getting one of those… the only people I know of having them are RAs (though it’s possible, albeit rare, for regular residents to get them).
