UF FALL 2017 Acceptance: Freshmen & Transfers Welcome

So, after waiting about a month I finally got my admissions decision from you UF!!! I got accepted into the FALL 2017 program! Everyone feel free to post your stats, major, and any information you feel has significance. Try to interact with as many people as possible, it’d be really great to meet future Gators!

Broward College
Current GPA 3.47 (3.53 after June)
Pre Prof. GPA Unsure
College of Journalism & Telecommunications
Major: Telecommunications: Media & Society
Clubs: GSA, NHSL
Accepted at 11ish PM March 17 2017

If there’s anything I left out let me know I’m Tucker by the way!

By the way, I DO NOT have all my pre reqs finished, so don’t worry about having them done before applying, just make sure they’re complete before admission.

I applied to CJC in late February. How long did your application sit at the school of journalism and communications before they made a decision?

The J school will accept most of the transfer kids between now and the third week of April. Keep looking as your acceptance can pop up anytime. They have a top ranked program.

@UFHopefully17 My app sat in regular admission for about 3-4 days and then spent 3 Weeks in CJC for final decision.

Ahh can someone read my post? I’m a student at MDC in Miami and I need help!!!

@wanttobeaflgator We can’t read it if there isn’t any link to do so.

[REPLY]: I’m going to be honest with you, because you don’t even meet the minimum REQ’s, the likelihood of you getting in is close to none: secondly; POLI SCI, like the other majors, is one where CLAS takes all grades into consideration, even W’s. Because you have so many “W” “F” and “D” grades it will affect the decision of your admission severely. Even if you retake them, your chances are still low due to your grades reflecting on your transcripts after course recovery. To answer your second question, no, there isn’t any such thing as automatic acceptance to a university with an A.A. The law states admission to programs that don’t have limited access However, with that articulation of said law, you need to meet the minimum GPA requirements. Because of everyone that is applying in the same time frame that you’re applying, you have to take into consideration the many GPA’s that are superior to yours. You may find better chances at a University that isn’t as competitive.

Now I’m no advisor, so take what I’m saying with a grain of salt; but seeing as though I’m always in my advisors faces I know a thing or two, and I’ve helped a few friends too so hopefully I have answered your question a little bit.

[ORIG POST by @wanttobeaflgator ]: So I’m a Political Science major at MDC in Miami and I’m a bit worried about my future with getting or not getting into UF. I’m currently taking 1 of 3 required courses, and the 4th is to be taken at UF if I’m admitted in the future. My GPA doesn’t meet what they’re looking for which is a minimum 2.5 (let’s just say I’ve been a bit lazy in a few terms). I have a 4 W’s (withdraws) in my grades and an 3 F’s (one of which I’m retaking to replace with a higher grade), as well, a few D’s too and a couple of C’s. I guess what I’m asking is, is UF picky about that? Mind you I have high grades in the classes related to my major. I know maybe for a student applying after high school yeah, but I’m just another transfer. Is that plan for transfer students to be admitted into any FL school from MDC bogus or true? Help!!! Be real.

Anyone who applied to College of Engineering and got their decision yet?

@eehopefully Are you a transfer or Freshman? And usually the Uber competitive colleges take a little while so I’d say April or may?also what’s your GPA?

Hi guys I’m Charlotte, I applied to the college of public health and human performance in January and have heard most people don’t find out until mid to late April for the health science track. I have volunteered at the hospital and a local elementary school and have attended two community colleges in Florida at the first I had a 4.0 and the second I had a 3.82 gpa. I have not finished anatomy 2 yet, which I will be taking over the summer. Has anyone heard any information about people receiving acceptances yet? Mid to late April is a little late to make living arrangements either in gainesville or to figure out living arrangements and scheduling at another school. Thanks for your responses in advance! And congratulations to all of you who have already gotten in!

@sunnygal The only thing I can say is the deadline and review dates they put in place is something they stick to. So April is going to be the date you find out. However stay in close contact with the admissions office. Make sure you submit everything they require, and you’ll be fine. Make sure you have the courses THEY require for transfer admission. Extracurricular activities isn’t something they really look. You can put it for your time accounted for and your personal statement but that’s it. Don’t give up just be patient. Look for living arrangements now. I’m certain you’ll get in if you take my advice. Ask questions, now is the time

@Kal-El96 I’ve applied for transfer admissions. GPA 3.9, applied Feb 27, they’ve got all my transcripts March 3. It is still saying that it’s been received and is being evaluated and nothing has changed ever since then. Nothing like being “referred to the College of Engineering” like what I have right now for my UCF application

Do they usually take a month or so to make an admission decision? When do you think I can check back? (I am tired of checking everyday and being paranoid)

Thanks for replying!

Thank you! I’m just counting down the days until April honestly. For my major I had to apply to UF as a transfer and then to the college itself with an essay and information about all the extra curriculars I did within healthcare, volunteer hours are pretty much required for health science. Also I know you mentioned getting your acceptance around 11 pm so I’m assuming you got it by email? And by keeping in touch with the admissions office do you mean like asking about my application status or just being sure they received all my transcripts? Sorry for all the questions.

@eehopefully No, the timeframe varies based on each college, Ex, Nursing program won’t send out decisions until June, so your decision will vary, if you call the admissions office they will transfer you to your appropriate college and relay general information. You’re going to have to be paranoid and keep checking lol, it is the only way.

@sunnygal Yes, as transfers we get a little more leigh way in admissions decision, they made their decision during the day, the advisor contacted me personally so I already knew what was going on, but it wasn’t updated in their system until the afternoon. Always ask questions every other week just call and make sure everything is good.

@Kal-El96 awww shoot! Alright, I’ll give them a call tomorrow and check with them till my brain explodes. Did you apply for Fall transfer as well? Did you hear back from them?

@eehopefully Yes I’m a FALL transfer. And call make sure you submit your FAFSA info for the schoo too

Hi guys! I am a college sophomore at the University of South Fl right now, and I just recently applied to transfer to the UF Online program. I am in the College of Mass Communications here and I applied for the PR Online program. I currently have a 3.44, but I should have a 3.57 by the end of spring semester. I’m heavily involved in the Public Relations Student Society here as well as USF’s HerCampus chapter, as I volunteer with social media frequently. I was just wondering if there’s any chance I should be worried about not being accepted?

@tryingtobeagata3 Honestly, your case is different it could go both ways and I don’t want to say no to sound discouraging however the fact that you’re coming from a state university makes it so much harder.
