UF GPA

I know that to recalculate your GPA for freshman admissions you have to add 0.5 points to your honor classes and 1 point for AP and Dual enrollment classes. There is one thing that confuses me though, when recalculating GPA…

  1. Do you recalculate in terms of semesters? For example, in semester 1 if I got a B in English 1 honors, then an A in the second semester, will it be 3.5+4.5 for the class?
  2. Is Sociology and AP Psychology considered a social science/academic core class? I don't know if I should consider these classes in my UF GPA. Thank you!

First, UF only looks at academic classes, so art, band, newspaper, yearbook or office aide don’t count. All AP classes count! So honors photography doesn’t count but AP Photography does.

You calculate it with your end of the year grade. So, in your example, if your high school looks at your English Honors grades (B first semester and A second) and says that your year end grade is an A, then UF says that’s a 4.5 for your UF average. (I found it easiest to create a little spreadsheet for my kids.)

Good luck.
