i declined to attend the one 4 african americans because i have a summer internship... so if anyone has attended past ones, did they mention any full ride merit scholarships?

There are not full ride merit scholarships. thats not what that program is about.

already wednesday and no info packets...does anyone know when they were or are being mailed?

I think that ASMAJ said that they were being packaged June 4-8.

The admissions office is never on time. Yeah thats when they were suppose to be package but I don't know if they were sent yet.

UF doesn't have normal full ride merit scholarships. They have them for merit/achievement scholars and for there presidential/outreach students. If you don't fit that category then you will have wait till you start UF to apply to departmental scholarships, which are given to the best people certain majors. I know engineering dept has many.

UPDATE

I just received my letter today. It is kind of slim, but includes a formal letter from the Associate Director of Admissions, a campus map, directions to the campus, a packing list, and an itinerary schedule. The letter is dated June 14, 2007.

It has no further confirmation numbers or codes so i presume we just show up and our names are on a list.

I, personally, was placed on the waitlist for Broward Hall (which doesn't bother me); but is surprising because I signed up fairly early.

if it matters, i live in jacksonville.

You might be able to get off the waiting list. Last year they gave people the option to stay at broward or stay at their parents apartment, and there were a few that took the latter. Many don't want the dorm life just yet. :-)

Hopefully you will enjoy you time there. It will be a long day and as a warning some parents get irritable because of the walking, long sessions, etc.

ASMAJ, is spending the night at Broward for Preview required to in order to get "credit" for Preview? My cousin is going to be a freshman and he was wondering if he has to stay at Broward for the night.

I am not 100% sure if they now require you to sleep at broward for preview. Maybe he/she or you could email Ann Becks (annhb@dso.ufl.edu), director of PREVIEW, and ask. I have heard of some people skipping broward and sleeping at their parents hotel or they would check in at broward and then sleep at the hotel and just return the key the next morning.

Edit: or you could post that question in the preview thread, maybe they would know.

Thanks for the update Mystifire, the fact that you live in Jacksonville is useful because I live down in Miami. Hopefully it will be coming in tomorrow, saturday crossing fingers

At preview they do require you to spend the night. They do a chek at 10 30 but after that if ure son wanted to leave out the side door it can be done as long as hes back by 8 in the morning

Your not allowed to leave. If you get caught your gonna be in trouble. but as long as they don't do a check you can teachnically do what is suggested in the previous post.

Okay thanks guys, I'll let him know. He just wanted to stay with his parents at a hotel, but I'll just tell him to stay at Broward.

I got my letter today (I live in Miami).

They told me that I was approved to stay in Broward Hall, and to go Sunday morning to get my dorm room assignment.

I got mine today too...im staying a hotel though...

For all those attending the program, how are all of you doing in terms of the preparation (resume, essay, transcript)?

Done with essay, got transcript, finished updating transcript. Ready to go...

BTW I got approved for the dorms.
