UF Honors Program

I'm interested in the UF Honors Program. I'm a Florida resident, I'm taking IB and AP classes, I have a 3.6 unweighted, 4.2 weighted GPA. I got a 2100 on the SATs.

So I'd like to know is:

A.) What are my chances of getting in?
B.) What's it like? Has anyone else gotten into it?
C.) What's up with the Medical Honors Program? Anyone taken that either?

Thanks!

PS: I'm a little worried, I got a "D" in IB Pre-Calc last semester. I'm going to take it again online, but it will be a regular class, not an IB class. Do you think they'll care if I got A's and B's in my previous math classes?

Check with your high school about a non-IB math class, first.

Your weighted GPA and SAT scores meet the basic criteria.

Son’s friend is in Honors. He’s pre-med. Loves it. Smaller school feeling within larger university.

I’m going to assume you are a FL resident. It’s not so easy anymore to guarantee UF, much less Honors. How are your EC’s?

Your set for UF, being in IB. This past year ~80% of those in the IB program got into UF from my class.

You have a solid shot at getting into UF Honors and given your SAT score is 30 points above the minimum, will be sent an invitation to apply.

I’m an incoming freshman who was accepted this past spring. From what I’ve seen it looks pretty awesome. I was also in IB and had 2120 SAT/~5.5 WGPA/3.8 UWGPA

From what I’ve heard, you apply to the program your sophomore year. If accepted, your admitted into UF Med and can graduate with a BS/MD in 7/8 years. It’s crazy competitive and only a handful get selected. I plan on applying my sophomore year.

Thanks so much!!! I want to do pre-med too, and be a heart surgeon someday! I do a lot of volunteer work, at the hospital and the animal shelter mostly. Volunteering is the only extra-curricular activity I do though. I don’t really have time for things like band or sports.

Wow! Getting into the med thing seems difficult. I’ll have to try really hard my first two years, lol. I guess if I don’t get in, I’ll just apply for med school normally.

Thanks for the advice! I’m going to visit UF on Tuesday actually. I’m pretty excited. :D
