Names of the nicer apartments, please?

How does price compare to UF Dorm rates ($)?

How does the student commute to campus? Bus? Walk? etc

Do upper classpersons typically move off campus?

1) i don’t think theres much of a consensus on this. the best indicator as far as i’ve been able to tell is by the age of the place. new shiny apartments just seem ‘nicer’. some that come to mind: university house, 2nd ave center, woodlands.

2) very similar. this isn’t usually a deciding factor between on campus and off.

3) most go by bus. if you can walk or bike safely, walk or bike safely.

I’m gonna have to disagree on question #2. From doing my own research when trying to find an apartment, and from the opinions of almost all of the off-campus people I know, price was the deciding factor in moving off-campus, and depending on the apartment complex, it can be much cheaper.

i suppose apartments can be had for cheaper than mine. i spoke to a friend the other day about how he was paying half the rent i was renting a house. it was kind of depressing until i remembered that his place was significantly worse than any dorms were, and it wasn’t furnished.

but i should amend my answer: moving from dorms to apartment with quality held constant, apartments will be cheaper. most people i know didn’t do it for the money (most went for the newer places), but theres is definitely an argument to be made there. there are too many price points for there not to be.
