UF Off Campus Housing

Hello everybody. I will be attending UF for mechanical engineering for Spring 2018. I am very excited but concerned about my living arrangement as I live in Miami and have to look at off campus housing as applications for on campus is full.

Does anybody have any advice for off campus housing? Apartments/Houses to check out? Apartments to avoid?
So far I have come across Campus Lodge, Gainesville place, University Commons and The landings.

I would love to read any personal experience on off campus housing and advice is greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Ask this on UF’s reddit page, a lot more students are on there and will be able to help you out

D18 and I looked at a couple off-campus apartments last week before we did an Engineering tour. UF isn’t her first choice, so we’re not putting any deposits down at this time. There are several new buildings under construction, so you have an opportunity to be the first one to live in a unit, which is a big plus. You didn’t mention a budget, and that will probably be a big factor as there seem to be a wide price range.

Take a look at http://www.the9gainesville.com/. New construction right across from the campus on 13th street near the double helix bridge. Expected to be complete before the Fall 2018 academic year starts. ~$750 per room for a 4BR/4Bath furnished apartment (1-5Br options available). Looks like they will have a lot of amenities. I believe they offer roommate matching.
