UF Spring 2014 Transfer

Congratulations, im happy for you. Im waiting on my acceptance. Im going to be optimistic.

I finished and submitted my application and I’ve been trying to send my transcript but I’ve had problems. I was told tomorrow (wednesday) it should work. I just submit it electronically, right? Also, are AP classes calculated into GPA or no?

Looks like I’ll be joining ya’ll. I went to preview yesterday and talked to my advisor. He talked to admissions and there’s no way I can continue without an AA because with an AA I get grade forgiveness, but without I don’t and will only have a 1.79gpa (I did REALLY bad in school 14 years ago). So, I have to find somewhere to retake the class I got a D in, and reapply for spring. I’m pretty devastated, but still hopeful that I can get admitted again.

@agmama don’t lose faith, you’re destined to be a Gator!

Thanks Gator!
I’m about to leave to take care of the paperwork needed to do the class as a transient at Santa Fe. My home school closed registration already, so this is the only way to do it. I’m going to bust my butt and get an A in it this time. I aimed for a C last time and ended up with a D (it’s Humanities II and I was not into it at all). I just really hope that I’ll be accepted again. I had to get a letter of recommendation last time after being denied. I’m optimistic. My advisor was very supportive and told me to keep him updated on what’s going on. Hopefully he can help me get in again. I’m an ag education major and I think I was the only one at my preview. There were 5 of us with Ag Education and Communication, but education had a separate advisor from communication. I was the only at his office.

It only took the university a week to refer my app to my college (CLAS). They got my transcripts from Valencia on the 14th and it was referred today.

How long does it take CLAS to make a decision, typically?

Each major within CLAS may take longer than others, but from the time UF received my transcripts to the time I was accepted was about 2 months. It was only about 10 days to get it referred to my college, so it felt like forever to finally hear.

Anybody that is applying for the engineering school got any responses. I applied about 1 1/2 months ago, they finally sent my application to the college about 3 weeks ago but still no decision.

Also I recently sent them my most up to date transcript with Physics two which I finished on 08/13 (summer B). Do you guys think they will consider it since they already sent the app to the college. I really hope they do because I got and A on it.

Another question if you know, how does UF accept people base on capacity, do they for example have a certain amount of seats per college or per major. Because I know for a fact that within the engineering school Chemical Engineering is one of the least popular majors, idk I hope that gives me a better shot.

Well either way I really hope I get in, but if not I got in FSU CHEM ENG for fall 2013 and I will start here, can’t wait anymore to start my awesome major.

I just received an update. My application for Spring 2014 has been sent to the College of Business for a final decision :)

Mine is still being evaluated…wonder whats taking them so long.

I got my spring app in. I really hope I’m accepted again. It took a lot to get me accepted the first time. This has been such a roller coaster ride since I applied the first time in January…from maybe to no to maybe to yes to no and now back to maybe. Good luck everyone!

@smart070 I am in the same boat as you. I also attend FIU and applying to UF as a sociology major, However Im applying for summer B 2014. My stats aren’t that high and my pre req courses are in progress now, I applied two days ago.

Does anyone how much your essay weighs in on your chances to get in?

I don’t know how much the essays are worth but I hope they are worth a good amount. My grades where not so good my 1st and a half year in college so my gpa is not ideal, still 3.0 but you know UF wants more. So in the essay’s I talked about me being a guest speaker at a chemistry conference. I hop that scores me a couple of points.

Digsthepast,

I just sent in my application as an anthropology major and was wondering if you had any idea what the pre-professional GPA requirement was?

My overall GPA is a 3.01 but I’m taking six classes at Santa Fe this semester so that will hopefully boost it up.

@margmead According to the academic advising page for transfer students, the competitive GPA for Anthropology is 2.5. This information can be found on the following page (hover over the “learn more” link).
Please update this forum or send me a message when you get your acceptance. It’s always nice to see fellow Anthro majors on here; we are a dying breed.

I received an email from one of the admissions counselors from the College of Business saying I need to get an A in Managerial Accounting and an A in Calculus to be admitted into the university. Looks like im hitting the books… HARD!!!

Anyone heard back from College of Engineering???

Does anyone know if its hard to get into the sociology major (CLAS) there? How long it will take for my application to get transferred to CLAS? & how long it will take to get accepted or denied? Applied for Summer B 2014 at the end of august.

Got accepted today for an English major. I’m actually pretty shocked because my grades were awful the first couple of semesters at my CC, but I’m stoked!
