UF Transfer Questions/Chance: HS Transcript :(

Hello forum,

It was my understanding that SUS applicants from Florida public community colleges with AA degrees are not required to submit a HS transcript for the transfer application. Why then, is UF requesting a HS transcript be sent for their transfer application?

I am applying to the College of Engineering in Fall 2010 with 43 AB/IB credits and 16 institutional credits completed by the time of the application. However, I will have upwards of that and an A.A. degree by the time of my theoretical admittance.

Although I took a challenging course-load in HS and received an IB Diploma, my grades were quite poor. Frankly, that's the reason why I'm at a community college. I'd much rather not have UF take my HS transcript into their decision.

However, I've taken my second chance and done very well. Even though I only have 16 credits so far, I have a 4.0 overall GPA. My pre-professional GPA for the College of Engineering is also 4.0 (based on Calculus III and Physics I w/ Calculus; Calc I and II = 5 on AP). I plan to complete Chemistry I and Differential Equations in Spring, and Chemistry II and Physics II in Summer.

My concerns are that I don't have enough credit hours at my institution for my 4.0 GPA to mean anything. And of course, my second concern is that they'll take my HS transcript into transfer judgement.

If anyone could advise me and perhaps offer guidance, I'd much appreciate that. Thank you.

PS: SAT is 2200, if that matters.

I believe you only need to submit it for the foreign language requirement if you took 2 years of a language in HS. As far as I can tell grades aren’t considered if you have your AA… I barely showed up to school junior/senior year and graduated with lots of D’s my senior year… but was still accepted even after submitting that.

Why don’t you call and ask?
