true, better than CALS saying june 1st and then lying about not admitting people for fall yet.

i actually found a personal email address of someone at uf who i know would have an instant answer… but i just feel like that would be WAY too much. so i’ve decided to not go there.

oh and the only thing i had to pay to cabana was a 35 dollar app fee.

that is some major self control teb0w. Instant answer is something i would probably not turn down.

well, it’s more self preservation than self control, i wouldn’t want the person getting totally ****ed off and throwing my app, etc. in the garbage… ya know?

**** = p.i.s.s.e.d.

really they * out that word. Well i guess i see your point of view, i’m so frustrated at this point with the lack of any sort of real information that i’d talk to anyone who had the inside track.

yeah, the information is so inconsistent at best… i wish it were easier.

indeed, i understand budget cuts and what not, but it’s like they don’t care about all the students waiting, it’s almost disrespectful. I don’t think everyone is so busy that each college cant have a meeting where a half dozen or so people sit down for a couple hours and sort applicants into piles to narrow it down, and then finalize them within the next week or so. The utopian world of college admissions i suppose

are ALL of you fall applicants? if so…class starts in 3-4 months
the summer a applicants only get notice 1.5 month in advance and for some less than 1 month

ya vet that seems beyond resonable.

-shrug-

rsala… it’s great you received your decision so quickly… and again congrats.

but don’t jump to now defending the time frame of “when” classes begin.

arranging life and getting things in order when you’re an ADULT takes time not days or even weeks.

yeah, time frames for situations like this should be significantly longer, just the aspects of finding a place to live, and in my situation the fact if i get in i will essentially have to move all my stuff twice. Apartment in Wv back home to lauderdale, and then hopefully to gainesville. Logistically i think it’s probably screwing alot of people.

yeah, it’s for certain put any life plans beyond the day to day on serious hold.

Idk, I’m trying to understand the reason for the wait. Well, I think that some of us won’t know anything until a little after May lol because of the tuition deposit thing (CLAS is trying to make an exception to this which might actually cause them to deny more qualified people). Plus, I think there’s not enough money in their “budget” to meet longer and more often, or even to assign more people to review apps. I think UF is more freshmen oriented for financial reasons. Think about it, would you want to admit someone who will pay tuition for 4 years, and housing for at least 1 year, or someone who would pay just tuition for 2? I think all this falls on money at the end of the day…

They want people who have been tried and tested at the University level (i.e. transfer students) just as bad. They get paid no matter if your a junior or freshman so its not about money either. Just give them time… if they wait till after the May 1 deadline and a lot of freshmen don’t enroll…it could mean more spots for others who have yet to get in. Just keep your chin up and things will work out.

very true Hey. I guess the freshmen thing is a little off center. Just trying to make sense of it all. Thanks for the perspective.

what tuition deposit

Yea about CALS. Those women giving information in the office must be very misinformed or downright liars. My friend from work applied for fall to ag education and I have seen her acceptance letter! She is going in the coast guard over the summer and she needed to get accepted to a 4 year university to be eligble for her coast guard program. So UF gave her special priorty which slightly peeves me.

@ rsala,

Freshmen have to pay a $200 tuition deposit by May 1st. I think that’s why CALS and most other colleges have later decision dates. CLAS is posting decisions by April 30, which means the decisions they are making have little to do with the freshmen tuition deposit, I would assume.

If i’m not mistaken all these budget cuts and enrollment numbers that they have to cut down started last year. If this was last year the delay would be semi reasonable because they were caught of guard and had to cut lots of transfers. The thing is they should have anticipated this. If it was going to be this time consuming of a process then the deadline for applying should have been moved back a month or two. And in my post about having several people review apps. I find it hard to believe that a few people would be so busy that they couldnt schedule a couple hours out of a week to merely sort applications.
