UF Transfer thread Fall 09

Last month i took the organized tour of campus, and the student that was leading it had said that the number of students that UF was cutting was strictly from the transfer students. Whether this was a true statement or not i don’t know. I really didn’t want this wait to go into finals week. good news can give me motivation during finals but bad news might keep me from properly preparing for my tests. I just want an answer already!!!

From what I and other have read, that was the case last year as the budget cuts and whatnot were handed out after freshman had been admitted so the only people who could be cut were applying transfer students. I’m sure transfer students are down this year as well but i think freshman are as well, but i could be mistaken.

no deposit for transfer right?

florida4e the cuts do NOT specifically target only transfers. uf will be cutting more transfers than freshman but both will be cut.

thats makes more sense, but when i get info. i will hope for the best but prepare for the worst. Under normal circumstances i would wait and reapply for the spring if i didn’t get in in the fall, but if i’m not attending school somewhere in the fall then i don’t get my military money so , i will be forced to go to USF or somewhere else.

after hearing the stories of transfers returning from previews/tours it seems the staff just doesn’t like us

:/

Something i found searching around in regards to CALS for THIS YEAR.
2009-10 transfer admits – CALS allotted 700 admits, up from current year
Bottom line—we are in good shape in CALS

Wvvet thanks for that!!! You have a knack for finding that stuff! Do you have a link so I can check it out too

I’ll try to find it, it was an overview of a meeting of some sort. At the moment i’m trying to figure out what happened last year and knowing there are more admits this year learn something. lol

thats a lot of admits, I wonder how many even apply

thanks wvvet. I hope that shortly after may 1 we start having some decisions roll on out. My undergrad advisor informed me that my major is considered a “special” major in the sense that is available nowhere else in the state. She said that those majors are filled first and that you must simply meet the admissions criteria to be accepted. Makes me feel a little better but I still want to see it become official

what is your major? I sent an email to someone else today seeing if i can glean any new information but alas no response.

thanks wvvet, if that is real it took a big weight off my shoulders. i havent heard anyone on here who has the same major as me so im not really worrying all that much. 700 is a lot for CALS.

I feel like all of us here have a great chance of getting in through the fact we care enough to complain about it constantly, rather than all those other applicants who are barely qualified, even if i was told i had a 99% chance of getting in i dont think i would feel content until that official letter you know.

Has anyone gotten accepted today or yesterday? I wanna know already! This is getting rediculous lol. My life( ie. apartment, classes, etc) are on hold until I found out from UF. I’m sure you guys are all in the same boat.

no decisions came out last night.

and when they do… it’s right around 8pm.

maybe they only work on wed. It would explain alot.

then why did they release decisions last week on tuesday and wednesday?

sarcasm, just sarcasm. The site is down now…so its time for everyone to have their hopes build up only to be disappointed in a few minutes…again sarcasm.
