My D21 is being considered for Foundation Fellows and was awarded a scholarship in the first round of awards and was admitted to honors. I guess we will see in the next few weeks how this pans out for Foundation Fellows.
My understanding is that all 3 are separate processes. UGA admissions awards scholarships and Honors College does honors admits and Foundation Fellow applications (which of course include a scholarship but other benefits as well). This is why there is a disconnect between the scholarships awarded and those auto admitted.
FFR (Foundation Fellowship and Ramsey Scholars) and honors are decided by the honors program staff. Not all finalists are awarded another scholarship before finalists are announced. The year my DD applied, she was awarded another scholarship, but sheās also OOS.
Good luck to all who applied for FFR! Iām happy to answer any questions about the selection process or scholarship experience.
OOS son accepted EA and would love to talk an out-of-state student. Has anyone used Campus Convo? Sounds like a great tool to get authentic insight.
Wondering if the Foundation Fellows interview invites will go out this week? Has anyone heard anything?
Probably on Friday.
It sounds like they have historically released on Wednesdays?
Thatās what I have heard as well
Foundation Fellows decisions are out! Just received the email
Does anyone know on past year if deferred whatās the earliest Yih wouid find out decision, Applied EA. I know they say by early April
They give a small number of admissions the first week of February. These usually are RD applicants who are in the highest stat group.
Thank you
Daughter today got an email for Curo Honors Scholarshipā¦not that she received it but to apply for it. Not sure if that means sheās in the Honors College. Has a quick turn around (Feb 1) and needs a letter. I know the teachers are all stressed from Covid. Sheās going to look further into it. Anyone know anything about it? Other than that, sheās waiting for Honors like everyone else. In at U of SC but she likes UGAās rep betterā¦although I think she likes U of SC itself betterā¦just that the campus is more manageable size wise.
We received the same email today and my daughter has NOT applied to Honors college so I donāt think it means your daughter has been accepted in to it. But fingers crossed for her!
I think itās a research program. I wish all these schools would use the letters submitted with Common App. The teachers are all behind and the kids are not comfortable to ask them to write more. On other hand, when I applied to college many years ago teachers had to fill out a separate rec form for each school. Thanks for the luck. Any of our kids who got in - given the stats this year - itās a great achievement for all. Not sure we will end up there - my daughter likes the rank / reputation but she tends to like smaller campuses and UGA is enormous. Really nice, very cool how the stadium sits in the middleā¦but really large.
Agree. Especially this year. My daughter keeps going back to the same teacher anytime she needs something written so he just copies/paste. lol
Heās actually pretty much written a recommendation for everyone in the class. Heās one of the more popular teachers and gets to know each child.
UGA is daughters #2 schoolā¦, still waiting to hear from #1 but even with a scholarship it is still pricey so hopefully another scholarship will come around. When the original #'s came out, before acceptance letters, D and I both looked at each other and were so nervous since this class was so competitive. So thankful she got in. D has been at a small private school since K and prefers a larger school for college. Havenāt officially toured UGA but have been to campus several times for football games.
My daughter applied for UGA Jan 1. Iām reading the blog and I think I understand that they have had 39,000+ applications ans can only accept 5890 freshmen!? Or something like that. Am I reading that correctly?!
Correct in the number of overall applicants but havenāt seen anything about a cut off of around 5k. Over 8k were accepted in EA.
They try to enroll about 5500 freshman (not admit). Last year, they admitted around 14-15k I believe.
14000-15000 overall or just freshmen?
